I will get to know each child, establish relationships with parents, and support their strengths as well as their needs. I will express my own emotions and respond to the children’s emotions, valuing their feelings and helping them express what they are feeling. But above all, I will make sure that every child feels secure in my room and are comfortable coming to me as their teacher. I provide a positive relationship with the child through daily routines and interactions. I feel this gives the children and parents a sense of trust.
My mother was always a single mother, so just like space, as I was growing up, money was tight. But my mother never let that hold back my siblings and me from getting our education and other goals she set for us. She knew we could do things that we believed we couldn’t possibly do, so she always encouraged us to be our best, no matter whatever or whoever tried to bring us down. The people that are in my life today have had a huge impact on the person who I’ve grown to be. My family, but especially my mother has molded me with their standards and expectations of me, and for them I am thankful.
This also helps the parent feel more settled and reassured that the child is getting looked after to a high standard. Observant and wise, my mom always said Olga and I had a special connection. Whether it was playing in the backyard or trying to block out her noisy snoring during the night, she was unlike anything else. But as days went on, guilt built up. Our whole family didn’t like to see Olga’s sad, neglected face when we drove away to go on with our daily routines. So after many pleads and pleases to my parents, it wouldn’t just be one bulldog at the Browning household.
I create a loving and trusting environment by being warm and responsive to their needs. I use a gentle touch and a soft voice as I redirect them. My co-teacher and I work together on their individual and routine schedules, such as napping, eating and diapering. I talk with the parents about their thoughts on childrearing and try to use the ones that are appropriate for our classroom. I strive to organize my classroom environment and schedule to prevent problems.
Ms Hudson encouraged me to learn a lot about the children’s social development, their instructional needs, and their attitude towards learning. During this practicum, I established some common goals and the teacher helped to guide a course to ensure my goals were met. In the beginning some of the students were somewhat out of control and calmed down as time passed. Some stared at me a lot, which didn’t make me feel uncomfortable. I would
Tracey is in her adulthood stage of her life. Nature- nurture affects her in all four factors; physical, intellectual, emotional and social. My parents have taught me right from wrong in many of ways from not to lie, to treat others like you want to be treated and to respect your elders with respect as well. With these morals and values that my parents taught me, my life will be easier to stay on a straight and narrow path for what is going to happen in the future. My parents have pushed me to make sure to stay in school and get a degree because back then it wasn’t the “thing” to do. My parents went to some college but ended up getting jobs and starting a life.
