Pittsburgh Penguins ENG3C A Formal Analysis of Pittsburgh Penguins Pittsburgh Penguins was founded in 1967 in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. They are members of the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference of the National Hockey League. The Penguins played in the Civic Arena from the time of their inception through the end of the 2009–10 season. They moved into their new arena, Consol Energy Center, to begin the 2010–11 NHL season. They have qualified for four Stanley Cup Finals, winning the Stanley Cup three times in their history in 1991, 1992, and 2009.

In 1983–84, the Oilers finished first overall in the NHL, winning a franchise record fifty-seven games and earning 119 points. They scored 446 goals, and NHL record which still stands today.
In Sweden we have kind of the same thing, we have a league that calls junior Super Elite, you don´t pay to play and you get free equipment and so on, the different is that we have scouts from junior A teams in United States and pro scouts watching, not college scouts. Why college scouts are not coming to Sweden to scout players is because that it is easy for us to play professionals if we are in this league, the reason for that is that the team in Super Elite is junior teams for the professional teams. If you don’t make it to the biggest junior leagues in both countries you need to pay to play. My grandmother Sirkka was born in 1926 and immigrated to Canada in 1938. She later got married and had two sons whom she named after her brothers Paul (my father) and Eric (my uncle). The Nazi’s had already started rallying support for their cause in 1936 in Finland so my grandparents felt it was time to leave Finland for the safety of their family because of the imminent war going to happen in Europe. Their oldest son Paul was killed at the age of 18 in the Russian - Finland War as a soldier. Shortly after his son Paul died my great grandfather, Matti Norppa, came to Canada on an Ocean Liner to Montreal and took a train to Kirkland Lake Ontario to become a gold miner.

It was obvious at a young age that Wayne was no ordinary athlete. When he was six, Wayne was already playing against 10-year-olds. And as stated in the book “On the ice with Wayne Gretzky,” Matt Christopher, (pg.7) talks about When Wayne was just 11, he scored over 300 goals in his hockey league. Roy says that teams make their decisions in the summer when they sign players to contracts; a team’s opening day roster can only have 23 players on it. He argues that the season should start three weeks earlier and that would allow the season to end just before summer, because after all Roy says that hockey is a winter game. NHL preseason provides a chance for players to make impressions on their teammates and coaching staff, but in order to make an impression a player needs time to play and coaches need time to evaluate their team, and the only way that can happen is if there is a lengthy preseason. Some NHL teams have more the 50 players at camp, so it is hard for everyone to get a fair look if preseason was just a couple weeks long. As well, players who were signed in the summer need time to adjust to the new role and line mates they will be playing with.
