Yosemite Natural Wonders “Everybody needs beauty as well as bread” (John Muir) In this quote, John Muir is saying that everyone is beautiful. In his nature, he might be referring to Yosemite, since he lived there in the wilderness. In Yosemite, there are many beautiful objects that can’t be found anywhere else. The wonder of Giant Sequoias, world’s largest granite rock formations, and breath taking waterfalls are some of the beautiful and amazing factors of Yosemite. One of Yosemite natural wonders are two giant monoliths known as, Half Dome and El Capitan.
Mutually the recognition and name of the park comes from the countless and incredible Joshua Trees that decorate its unusual scenery. The south segment of the park is affected by the burning and dry Sonora Desert as in the upper altitudes, is the fresh Mojave Desert. It is of general believers that the Joshua Trees inspire people. They inspire people to be creative, and to think about themselves. The Joshua Tree was named by Mormons who were traveling westward, and they felt that the arms or branches of the tree were stretched upward and that why they were inspired by the biblical tale of Joshua, who used to reach his hand up in the sky and pray.

The bell tower was built in 1990 and stands 236 feet tall and is one of Orange County's tallest structures (Crystal, 2011). It was built from a polished, mirrored quality, stainless steel prisms forming a spectacular spire which catches the light from all directions and houses a 52-bell carillon (Crystal, 2011). From the outside the cathedral is very smooth and contemporary. Inside the cathedral you can see the high arches and ceilings and the bell tower completes the gothic
Thawing of permafrost- Up to 40% of total permafrost is expected to thaw, especially in Siberia. This will release large quantities of methane- a greenhouse gas. Increased fires and insects- Global warming will increase forest fires and insect- caused tree death, which may have an effect on old-growth forest, a valuable habitat that is rich in lichens, mosses fungi, and birds. Alien species may invade. Land species- species adapted to arctic climate at risk.
“The Historical Roots of Our Ecological Crisis” In “The Historical Roots of Our Ecological Crisis,” White argues that certain attitudes formed as a consequence of acceptance of Judeo-Christian religions have had an important impact on each individual’s behavior towards the environment they live in. Humans have dramatically changed the Earth, and White thinks that our attitudes towards Nature are largely responsible for it. White begins by stating that humans are not the only species that alter the environment in which they live. However, human alterations typically are on a far greater scale, and proceed at a far greater rate, than the alterations of any other species. He also claims that the rise of ecological problems on the scale now occurring is a cultural phenomenon.
It completely takes off the tops and pushes the excess debris off the side of the mountain. This caused runoffs that went into nearby streams and lakes that basically poisoned the water. Also there is no way that the vegetation could ever grow back and be the same. To top things off, methane gases that are released into the atmosphere make holes in our ozone layers, thus causing changes in the weather. It may seem like coal mining is nothing but a hazard to people and their environment, but it does have some positive effects.
She elaborates on the issue of spraying chemicals and if it is increasing or decreasing the progress in the world. Carson’s article states that we are hurting ourselves more than we benefit ourselves from the spraying of harmful chemicals, and that we endanger our environment with these chemicals. In order to persuade the progressive intellectuals of this argument, Carson provides data to show the actual harm the pollution from the chemicals is causing, and provokes fear in her audience. In order to make her argument appear reasonable, Rachel Carson uses scientific observation to demonstrate how chemicals are the cause of killing pests. Carson provides rational examples to show the harm that pollution is causing to the earth and pests.
Elevated thousands of feet above the sea level, dotted with steep mountain peaks, carved with deep valleys and covered in thick vegetation, Andean territories seamed to be the worst place to build even if often earthquakes were not taken to account. Inca capital city, Cuzco, the place where their empire started from, is not only still inhabited, but is a large city visited by numerous tourists. Even though many Inca structures were destroyed during colonial period and the stone from their walls was used for Spanish buildings, there are still many examples of famous Inca architecture. Not far from the city a wall complex of Sacsayhuaman, even though built before Incas but later expanded by them, demonstrates same techniques but on much larger scale. Two other sites, Machu Picchu and Ollantaytambo, impress by their locations on top of the mountain.
“An Inconvenient Truth” focuses on an important topic that we need to start paying attention to now- global warming. Many facts are stated and shown through graphs and research. The video and book also say how people are affecting the world and causing the earth to change. We can stop global warming by recycling, using less energy, and not polluting by using less fossil fuels (The Science). The movie, “An Inconvenient Truth” was a very eye-opening movie.
