During the drive to our first stop I saw many beautiful sites; mountains, lakes, rivers, forests... the nature was truly amazing! We even saw black tail deer and elk roaming right along side of the road. Our first stop was the city of Aberdeen but we only visited Gray's Harbor for an hour to stretch our legs and see if we could spot any gray whales but we didn't see any. Our next stop was beautiful Ruby Beach in the town of Kalaloch. You have to walk a trail through the forest to get to the beach and we enjoyed it so much!
He would walk over to the fence that was about twenty dog steps from the front porch. Once in a while I did pet him with my right hand, but because the rails were close together I could not get my arm through them. Both the dog and I were happy with our greetings, each one with the other, then we went on our separate ways. Flower went back to her porch to sleep and I would go to the grocery store. At the grocery store, I bought things that my mother wanted.
She had just sold the tires from her car to buy food. There she sat in that lean- to tent with her children huddled around her, and seemed to know that my pictures might help her, and so she helped me. There was a sort of equality about it. David Seuss Elchlepp English 101 Rewrite Essay #1 July 19th, 2012 The Whole Fishing Hole Story It was a hot summer day just outside Steamboat Rock, Iowa. My brother and I, under the care of our single Grandmother, were walking down an old country road to a fishing hole. Grandpa Luiken had passed, and we were the little so-called-angels sent by Ma to help Grandma feel better, which felt more like a demand than a request to me. It was like a 1950 tradition where my Ma thought it was still important to look after the grandparents instead of sending them off to an old folk’s home. My dad was working two jobs and my 2-year-old brother was too young to join us.

Utley tells us a story about one Sioux man named Dewey who managed to fight his way through the holocaust of the Wounded Knee battle in which he lost his mother, his brother, his wife, and infant son shortly after. The author writes, “Though twice wounded, Dewey had lived through a slaughter that had swept away at least 153 men, women, and children of Big Foot's band of 350 and maimed another 50 or more” (Utley, 19). With no more Buffalo to hunt for game, and the annihilation of over half of Big Foot's population, the Sioux were left with no other choice but to surrender to the white mans way. The government set up a system of reservations, which was a way to segregate Indians and force them into the new world order. Utley writes, “Dewey lived at a time when the Sioux were thrust upon the bridge the whites tried to build between the old Indian world and the alien new world of their conquerors.

In many areas, the wolves are nearly gone because they were killed by humans. Wolf recovery programs are reintroducing wolves to remote forests and many people such as ranchers are unhappy about these wolves. They say that the wolves will kill their cattle and sheep while others see the reintroduction as important in reestablishing a balance in nature. Dog history is as rich and varied as the dog breeds themselves. Research about their history indicates that all dogs originated from ancestral wolves, but careful breeding has created dozens of distinct breeds that highlight desired characteristics.
