I blurted out the letters I could remember and anxiously waited for that bell to ring so I can get off the stage but it didn’t, surprising myself and others I had spelled the word right. The final round was here and it surprisingly it was down to me and this kid who dressed slightly but not quite like Harry Potter, he even had on the robe. The final word for the competition would be “Grotesque”, which was the most difficult word I have ever heard. I had every ones eyes looking at me waiting for an answer from me but I froze, shaking as if I am standing outside in 5 degree weather. I managed to remember how hard I had worked for this and that I should at least attempt spelling

She would move heaven and earth to see to it that they get a college education, heaven forbid they ever have to struggle financially, like she did. When a Time-Share company called Dream Scheme, Inc. opened its corporate headquarters just a couple of miles down the road she applied for a job there, along with most of the other 1000 or so residents of the surrounding counties, most of whom had been unemployed, on government assistance, or working for minimum wage… all barely scraping by as she had been. She was hired along with 50 others including her best friend, to work in sales, and within a year, another 50 or so had been hired. She had worked very hard to prove herself and had just received a promotion and a raise -- $80,000 annually in her new position as Executive Assistant to the CEO and owner of the company... … That would be Norm, a charismatic leader, who despite the current economy had grown his company by leaps and bounds within the first year there, selling over 5000 time-shares throughout the US. Not only did Norm know how to sell; he knew how to teach and motivate people to sell which, in the natural order of things, all leads to big money… jobs, a major boon to the prior economical deathbed of this tiny beach town.
We were going up really high; I looked down and saw how high we were. We were so high that everyone in the funfair ground looked like ants. I started screaming really loudly and the people on the ride were screaming even more; it was as if we were about to die. Then something unexpectedly happened, the ride stopped. We were really high when it stopped.
I was born in Bogota, Colombia, I lived there for the first 14 years of my life, I had an amazing childhood there and I will always see it as my home. Unfortunately, when I was 6 years old my mom got laid off from her job in Colombia. She tried finding a new job but due to her age it was impossible, therefore she decided to move to the United States and seek for a better future, but her decision of moving to this country also meant that she was going to have to leave me in Bogota with the rest of my family. It was not until I was 15 years old that I decided to stay in the United States to live with my mom, I remember that the very first thing I did when it was official that I was going to stay living here was to go to Central Park and stand by the little bridge, where I was able to see the lake, I had heard many stories of how beautiful it was, but I wanted to see
9-11 As our classroom sat and watched the horrifying video of 9-11, I never fully grasped that day into detail until seeing the actual footage. People screaming, running, shouting for their loved ones. I can’t even image what was going through those bystanders’ minds. Watching thousands of people being burned every second, and hundreds making the decision to jump to their deaths. So many questions with no answers were asked that day the twin towers burned to ashes.

This news came down hard on me and my family. My grandfather was the backbone of this family, and we were not prepared to lose him. We could not accept the little hope that the doctors gave. No was simply not an answer. About a month after the diagnosis, Grandfather started the treatment process.
