Mystery Research Paper I am researching the numbers 666 and 13. They are historically feared because they’re typically viewed as very unlucky numbers. The fear of 13 is known as triskaidekaphobia. The number 13 is very unlucky to many people. Some hotels do not have a 13th floor. Some airlines do not have a 13th gateway. Some hospitals do not have a 13th room. Many cities do not have a 13th street or 13th avenue. 13 being an unlucky number is one of the widely believed superstitions in the world. In several different religions both numbers are unlucky. Judas was the 13th person at the last supper and he betrayed Jesus. The first 36 numbers added together equals the sum 666. The first apple computer costs $666.66. In China the number 666 is considered a very lucky number. All barcodes have the number 666 on them. The other number that gets people crazy is the number 13. Like 666, the number 13 is “supposed to” bring the Devils luck. People have a ridiculous fear of the number 13 to the point of where they refuse to fly, make business deals, or get married on that day. It really is just is a number that comes after 12 and before 14. There are some facts about the number 13 too. Friday the 13th is the worst day for people who suffer from this fear. President Roosevelt would not dine in a group of 13 people. A person becomes a teenager at the age of 13. 13 is a prime number. 13 is special to the United States because it represents the original 13 colonies. The American flag has 13 stripes. There are 13 cards of each suit in a deck of playing cards. When thinking of the number 13, it really is just another number. It’s kind of silly to say that the floor in a building above 12 is 14 when it’s obviously 13. It does not make sense if having 12 of something is okay but adding one more makes it unlucky or evil.
