The significance of this paper is a discussion between my Father and I, and how his life at the age of eighteen differs from my life now. The discussion is going to describe how harsh my dad’s life was at my age, and how I should learn to appreciate how much I have, and how fortunate I am to have caring parents who can afford to support me through college. The discussion is going to continue on in further details to discuss how my Father’s life influenced him to join the Military and his experiences through the Viet-Nam War. He begins the novel when he receives the new that his father died. Barack died when Barry was 21 and he begins the story when he goes back to Hawaii and reflects back to his childhood. Before he was born and his mother, Anna, first brought his father, Barack, home for her parents to meet, she could sense that, at first, they didn’t welcome him with open arms because of his race. It wasn’t no surprise to Barack that he wasn’t going to be fully accepted as well but the major shock was the fact that him and Anna were going to get married, which wasn’t approved by her parents. Another shock was that Anna was pregnant and soon after Barry (Barack Jr.) was born, Barack disappeared and didn’t show up until later in Barry early childhood life.
During this same scene Amir describes how his father had “a look of disgust” on his face after he asked this question, similar to the look his father would give him when he would cry as he fell over and scraped his knees as a child. Although a lot has changed for Amir, there is still one aspect that has not changed, this being the idea of Amir not being able to stand up for himself and following such cowardice morals. Hosseini reminds us of this, and how Amir is still on cause to atone for his cowardice
The findings arrived at in this study were classified under two main headings. The first one was the distribution of protector and provider role. This includes sub headings of “worry- a traumatic and lonely childbirth, lost opportunity, guilt-an absent father, and fear of death and dismemberment-who will be the father?” (Schachman, 2010, p. 13-14). The second heading was the restoration and provider role with subheading of communication. The outcome of the study revealed that these new fathers concluded that being away from their family upset their fatherhood role significantly .It hindered them from providing and protecting their family.

The third and last text is an Internet review of the book “The Making of a Marine Officer” by Joel Pitney. The text is focusing on all the good things the military brings, witch people according to Joel Pitney, have forgotten about. Lieutenant Fick, the author of the book “One bullet away: the making of a good officer”, has been to war, and thinks that the most important thing about the military is, that the war and the training before the war are teaching you about honor, courage, brotherhood and commitment.
