I have to do research in my current professional life and I feel that as I am not a master of these skills, I improve every day. I can utilize not only the physical written word effectively when obtaining information I can effectively navigate online resources as well. I feel that North Central University so far has given me valuable information with regards to these skills. I look forward to using them going forward in my future classes. I am a lifelong learner so I will never say I have a mastery of any skill as there is always something new to be learned, or changes made to existing skills.
Also does not participate in class is something I've done wrong because this helps you a lot to get a good grade. In short, things I did wrong in the ESL 103/104 class have had their consequences because they all affect a bit of my grade. Also thanks to this class I have improved my skills in my English. First I have learned many vocabulary words that I never before had seen. Also thanks to the novel I had read I improved a lot my reading.
I wasn’t going to tell him that last semester I felt as if all he did was deposit information to this container of mine. “I was just overwhelmed with all that’s been going on with leadership.” I stated. He looked me straight in the eye and said, “That’s a lie.” How could he have read past me like that? He was good; he was really good I tell you. So I told him, I told him that I sucked at audio learning, that I didn’t do well with lectures and that I needed to humanize.
Jamison Mullen Ms.Cramer Final reflective essay 5/24/12 It’s been a long hard year for all the students that took English 10. It’s good that people take English because it affects the way we talk, live, and function in day to day life. I can say personally English helped my writing tremendously. I could hardly write essays due to my bad grammar and the inability to punctuate my words and sentences I’ve come a long way. It was worth every question and worksheet to where I am now.
Cynthia Moore: How do you see your career growing or changing? Jenny Graves: I feel my career growing all the time as the days go by, because I gain more experience and more insight on being an educator. I am always learning new things from my students that help me to better my way of helping them. Cynthia Moore: What do you think teachers today lack the most? Jenny Graves: During my years of teaching I have notice that most of the time they lack passion for what they do which causes them not to put all their effort forward.
I’ve always had a hard time turning in any homework and this is the year I need to start doing it. I think by doing these things I will meet my goal of graduating. Another goal I would like to me this year would to improve my essay writing skills. I’ve never had a real hard time with essays but there is always room for improvement. In English this year I will have to
"The Search for Everlasting Life" in the Epic of Gilgamesh & "Ecclesiastes" from the Old Testament I truly believe in lifelong learning. Ideas I had as a young adult have been expounded upon as I continue to get older, and I am continually astonished with the knowledge I gain through life experiences and formal education. In just one day in Humanities class I learned how profound the use of certain imagery was in literature, and this corresponded to all that I knew about the bible. I have never accepted the bible as fact, even as a young adult, but rather stories that necessitated self-evaluation to deduce meaning for the individual. These two works, chapter four “The Search for Everlasting Life” in the Epic of Gilgamesh (Epic) and “Ecclesiastes” from the Old Testament (Testament) are great examples of literary works with far more complex meaning than the text conveys.
My third difficult was the first time when I saw a book in English here in this country. I remember I could not understand anything in the TV, magazines or newspapers. I think that my ages slow me down in the language process. Age is very important to learn because when you are young the brain is brand new and like a sponge that catches everything. Julia had this advantages and that’s why she learned faster and better than me.
My Writing Has Improved this Semester! Have you ever had to take a class and thought, “This is going to be the death of me?” I’m sure everybody has thought that. Usually the classes that you hate the most; are the ones that are more beneficial. As in my case, ENC 91has taught me several important concepts on becoming a stronger writer. My writing has improved this semester tremendously.
Math and science have always had priority in my life, as they always will. I have always had problems with writing English papers because of my constant desire to make my work perfect. My thinking process does not leave much room for analysis or interpretation, for I often despise thinking that way. Writing analytical papers that were 1000-1500 words was truly agonizing and borderline torture; however, without writing these essays, I would have had no way of expanding my thinking process and becoming more open-minded about writing. The first essay in my portfolio is an analysis of an advertisement promoting a specific brand of vodka.
