When I came to know that I have been asked to take English remedial class, I was a bit mad at first, but then I thought that this class would make me better. I view remedial classes as practice, very much like professional athletes view training, because the best athletes practice to become better. As well, once students complete a degree with finishing the English remedial and begin seeking employment, they will find many companies emphasize good communication skills. So, It doesn’t matter if you know everything or nothing, what matters is that you benefit in every class (even if it’s a remedial). Soon, after my graduation I will be joining my dad’s business.
I was up for the challenge even though I had nothing to lose, but had much to gain. Due to the challenges I faced with my divorce, and the resignation of my job, I felt I losed everything I worked hard for. However, in the mist of having both it was tearing me apart for years. By the eleventh grade I already had a job and could buy some of the girly things I liked and still go to school. I would not be able to do that if I lived in Haiti and so I appreciate it. I always make sure I think about everything carefully before I make a decision. For example, I’ve been thinking about college ever since I started middle school. It had always scared me and I wanted to make sure that I was ready. I’d gone from thinking I would go to U of I just because a friend wanted to, to being set on going to a community college just because I knew I wouldn’t be able to afford school. For the past year though, I have been set on going to Illinois State.
It was an experience that I did not know how to handle. For my son and I it was very difficult and life changing. After the divorce I decided to relocate with my mother. I knew that after all she was the only person that can help me gain that strength and will power I had before this experience. I knew that I had to make changes not only for me but, for my son.
But you have to be mentally strong to achieve your goals in this life. We can only hurt ourselves or help ourselves and I am going to help myself. I am eager to complete school so I can enter my job field. It is my dream to become a CT State Trooper. This job just fits my criteria in every way possible.
I knew I couldn’t handle the stress then because my family was demanding to much of my time. I would discuss with my husband that I wanted to one day be supervisor of business services and he would always say to me do you think you can handle the pressure and responsibility that come with it. I really didn’t understand what he was saying then; I just thought he was trying to talk me out of it. I decided to go for it and apply for the supervisor position that came up at my job. I knew I was skilled qualified for the position but I wasn’t degree qualified for the position.

The before school, lunchtime, and afternoon meetings, not to mention the obnoxious amounts of paperwork, are enough to drive even the sanest teacher to the sanitarium.
