My Abnormal Belief in Superstitions Superstitions are everywhere and have been around for decades! Some people choose not to even acknowledge their existence. However, some people are overly fanatical when it comes to superstitions. I am one of those people! With all the various superstitions out there, the ones that get me the most are keeping my radio volume on an even number at all times, avoiding a black cat when it crosses my path, and spilling salt. A strange superstition I find myself involved in everyday is my radio volume. I have to keep it on an even number constantly. For some bizarre reason, I feel like if it were on an odd number then something bad would happen! Every time I get in my car, I immediately check my radio volume to make sure that the volume is on an even number. If I have to turn the volume knob to make the number even, it deters my vision from the road, and I totally lose my concentration on driving. I wish I could let that one go most of all because not only is it distracting, it is unpleasant to continuously have to think about what number the radio volume is on! Black cats are associated with a superstition that has been around for ages; they are said to bring bad luck, especially when they cross your path. For this reason I am terrified of them! It has happened to me on more than one occasion, where a black cat tries to cross in front of my car. I always try to avoid it, but sometimes there is just no getting around it. One time, I was driving in a parking lot and all of a sudden I saw a black cat headed right for me! I instantly tried to go around it, but before I knew it, the cat had crossed the path I was trying to go. Ever since then I feel particularly unlucky!
