Antigens are generally proteins that stimulate an immune response. Basically, the immune system in the body attacks the nerves. The second theory is that MS is caused by environmental factors. Studies have shown that MS occurs more in places that are farther from the equator. Some scientists believe that this proximity from the equator actually has something to do with Vitamin D. Vitamin D is produced by the body.

Multiple Sclerosis is a disease that affects the brain and the spine, eventually it ends in not being able to control muscles, loss of vision, not being able to balance, and numbness. When you suffer from multiple sclerosis the brain and spine are damaged by the immune system, this is known as an autoimmune disease. The symptoms- The symptoms affect every person differently, they vary on how much damage has been done to the nerves. Some symptoms include: -visual Problems: the visual problems are one of the first to occur normally.
1 – The Biological approach treats mental illnesses as any other illness by labelling it, normally by using the DSM IV or ICD 10 then using drugs to treat the illness (or psychosurgery). This approach has little room for free will as it believes that
The BSP is somewhat different from the biomedical model which Doctors in medicine uses as this kind of treatment model focuses more on the physical process as the pathology or the origin of the disease, its biochemistry and its physiological aspects (Wampold, B. (2001). The biomedical model only explains the biological aspect without involving the psychological and social background. Psychological and social aspects are important in determining that the diseases and illness are occurring without effect on both process and outcome of the treatment. Psychological aspect of it plays an important role in determining the prognosis of an individual with disease regardless of the severity of their medical diagnosis (J. W. Drisko and M. D. Grady, 2012).
When the organ in our body is deprived of oxygenated blood that organ or part of it will die. This is exactly what happens in vascular dementia. The conditions which can cause these problems are preventable and include diabetes, heart problems, high blood pressure and cholesterol. Rarer forms of dementia are: • Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease known as CJD is caused by prion disease. Prions are proteins in body and when these protein cluster together in the brain they cause brain cells to die
Instead of treating the person as a collection of symptoms and behaviours to be controlled, person-centred care considers the whole person, taking into account each individual's unique qualities, abilities, interests, preferences and needs. Person-centred care also means treating residents with dementia with dignity and respect. In contrast to this the biomedical model of health states that the mind and body work independently from each other. It looks at disease only and not the whole person. The biomedical model also suggests that treatment is to change the physical state of the body and that only the medical profession can treat the sufferer.
Systemic Lupus Erythematosus Systemic lupus erythematosus commonly known as (SLE) is an autoimmune disease characterized by acute and chronic inflammation of the body’s tissues. This autoimmune disease commonly involves complications or failure of the Heart, Kidney, Skin, Blood, ,Joints ,and Lungs. You may be wondering what an autoimmune disease is, it’s an illness that occurs when your body is being attacked by your very own immune system. SLE effects everyone in different ways. this form of lupus can cause payralization If lupus attacks the brain, it may cause seizures, leading to stroke-like paralysis and worse.
Most people who have mild to moderate disease will be treated by a rheumatologist, who specializes in the diseases of joints and muscles. However, if your lupus causes kidney problems, you will also see a Nephrologist, a specialist in diseases of the renal system. If you have rashes or lesions, you will see a dermatologist, who specializes in diseases that affect the skin. Because lupus can cause damage to any part of the body, other specialists may be necessary. Such as a Cardiologist, who specializes in heart problems, or a Neurologist, who specializes in problems that affect the brain and nervous system, or a Perinatologist, who specializes in high-risk
After being sent home from the emergency room and I had to send her back not even two hours later because something was wrong. My mom got admitted into St. Luke’s Hospital for Serotonin Syndrome. Serotonin Syndrome is a life threatening drug reaction that is caused from too much of the same medicine (which also means the body having too much Serotonin). Serotonin Syndrome was caused by the Emergency Department, not paying attention to her everyday medicine and giving her something she was already on. My mom’s health was all over the place.
Multiple Sclerosis May 1, 2012 Sixteen year old female wakes up the morning of her homecoming and was blurry in her left eye. Her mother eventually set up an appointment with her pediatrician, who sent her to the eye doctor. From there, doctors ordered an MRI, and sent her to a different hospital. She went through three spinal taps, finally being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. (Guest Josephinez, 2011) Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is an autoimmune disease that affects the central nervous system (brain and spinal cord).
