Overall, the presentation of the results were poor. The authors leaned more toward winning favor of the reader through not providing clear results. The case study presented was inserted creating biased favor toward the use of Family Therapy (FT) where numbers were void. Critique of Discussion: Numbers 1, 2, 4, 7, and
Aman Sangha! 3121185111 EDUF 3031: Professional Statement ! The unit of study ‘Positive Approaches to Special Education’ has given me the opportunity to reflect on my practices as a pre-service teacher and how well they incorporate an inclusive approach to education. Although I have not come across children with additional needs in my practicums, inclusion has been an hidden agenda within my goals and practices. Inclusion and inclusive education are quite broad in definition, however with the support of this unit my professional understanding of inclusion has been formed by research and practices such as all student engagement, asking the question how?
Besides, I am also assigned an advisor and mentor to help me keep track with my classes. Clearly, being a diversity scholar is a really great opportunity for me. In my country, the government does not have a lot of diversity program and recognition. When I got the scholarship, I felt like my voice had been heard and finally I have a chance to show the world my culture. With this scholarship, I plan to use it to support my financial aid as I am a full time student at Western.
Multiculturalism’s Five Dimensions Dr. James A. Banks on Multicultural Education The article presents the five dimensions of Multicultural Education, and how teachers can help transform the world by giving equal opportunities to all students and create positive racial attitudes. New information and relevancy to my personal life - As many teachers I thought multicultural education is mostly a matter of content integration and the extent to which teachers use content from a variety of cultures and groups to illustrate key concepts, principles, and theories in their subject area. In certain subjects, like social studies, there are more opportunities to integrate ethnic and cultural content, so it is difficult to see why learning about multicultural education would be relevant to all teachers. After reading the article I understand that content integration in the curriculum is only the first dimension of multicultural education.
where is proof that this belief is accurate? And pragmatic disputing e.g. how is this belief likely to help me? E stands for effect of disputing which is normally to change self-defeating beliefs into more rational beliefs e.g. moving from catastrophising (no one will ever like me) to a more rational interpretation (my friend was probably thinking about something else and didn’t see me).
I also have a cousin who is bi-racial and he was the first bi-racial child in our family. I have personally watched the transaction of my entire family on the acceptance of him, and how the ignorance of judging people by color has disappeared, and now they are the ones teaching people of their ignorance. I have not really been impacted yet in a professional setting by the inter-relationship of global and diversity awareness. My expectation is that somewhere in there, that this issue will affect me personally. I am sure I will be faced with issues such as working with people of different races, religions, and etc.
Multicultural Awareness The purpose of this paper is to analyze oneself by taking the Multicultural-Self Assessment and learn about the “Other” of one self. This will help one to associate with clients from different cultures. Multicultural Self-Assessment Summary The results of the Multicultural Self-Assessment were not surprising to me. Thirteen of the answers were five (5), which is not surprising to me because I was taught by my family and I to accept “Others” and not to judge anyone if you do not want to be judge yourself. What two four’s (4) were not want I thought I would answer but I had to think very hard on it.
He also failed to communicate effectively his plans to his boss and his co workers. The reinforcement theory comes from E.L. Thorndike. According to Blanchard and Thacker (2007), Thorndike stated that behavior which results in pleasant experiences tends to be repeated while behavior that results in unpleasant experiences does not. (p.69) In this case, Rick’s behavior resulted in an unpleasant experience (loosing his job). We can draw the conclusion that Rick will not repeat the same mistake of not communicating
Some effects of antidepressants can be destroyed creativity, dull emotions, weight gain, suicide and many other negative things. If this does happen, just stop taking them, easy as that, and try something else like yoga or acupuncture sessions to help relax you. That’s why they mostly work more for people who have severe depression opposed to those with mild to moderate depression. Many experts believe that people are becoming too dependent on antidepressants, but if it helps them get through life, they should take them. As long as they don’t harm you and make you happier with
She concluded Brigit might not have done the tests accurately because of the previous reading. Instead of addressing this issue she decided to avoid the confrontation and shoulder the responsibility of retesting everyone. In my opinion passive communication, although avoid confrontation is not effective because Brigit is left unaware she completed the tests inaccurately. This is an injustice to her and the students because she will continue to make this mistake unknowingly. The more effective way to handle this in my opinion would be to ask Brigit to demonstrate how to complete the test and show her what she is doing incorrectly.
