She is also committed to the organization. She takes her job very serious. She likes to satisfy her peers as well as her manager. Ericka has a very high level of confidence and job involvement. She keeps a positive attitude flowing.
I thought this was a very important quote to relate to the story. The Mirabal sisters are very brave for what they did in the name
Ailin is a very strong representation of a heroine, she saw the need to break Chinese tradition that was carried on for many centuries, she did this for the for the moral and physical good, she supported and understood the revolution because it would bring change and she never gave up when things got tough. When Ailin broke tradition for the moral and physical good by not giving into society’s rules and regulations, she was then unable to preform the functions of an upper class Chinese woman. These women had small, delicate bound feet by having bones broken and fractured they were unable to do work and manual labor, because of this they stayed at home and rarely went out. Since Ailin forbid herself from getting this done she was free, to walk, run and play with the boys. In doing so she became more independent and stronger on her own.
Therefore even though Arrow was being hard on herself for the killings, she did what was best for the people around her. Another decision that Arrow made which revealed her morals was when she was appointed to her new commander and is told to shoot at a target. She rebels with the statement, “I’m not going to kill an innocent civilian.”(Galloway 224) Arrow showed the ability to have the will power to go against the man’s order and do what she believed was right. Arrow was the only reason the city of Sarajevo stayed somewhat sane as she kept the legacy of the cellist
The Mirabal sisters played a prominent role in the revolution. Not only did they stand up at a time when few people would, they also defied the roles of women in that era. In the novel In the time of the Butterflies, Julia Alvarez uses figurative language and character development to convey to people who are unaware of what sacrifice really is, throughout the novel the Mirabal sisters or “las Mariposas” are exemplars of this as they sacrifice of their time, energy and hearts to help not only their family and friends, but the countless strangers who are suffering from the wrath of Trujillo. In order to show the sacrifice the sisters went through, Julia Alvarez uses figurative language; such as metaphors and similes. Dede is the second born of the four sisters and the only one to survive Trujillo’s regime.
At first Jing-mei liked the idea, but after all of her attempts and fails she wanted to live a normal American life. (Tan, 125-126) Both stories have struggles, and events that occur to lead to have similar endings. In the movie Mulan after Mulan takes her father’s place in the army, she ends up going to battle and saving China from the dreaded Huns. She ends up coming home with the Huns leaders sword, the emperors crest, and honor to her family. (Mulan) In “Two Kinds” Jing-mei has many attempts to try to become a prodigy, the failure of her last attempt is what ended it all.
The only reason he cannot be wholly to blame is that Kim had the opportunity to get her assignment there in time. But in all fairness, a husband that feels insecure and would not support his wife one hundred percent is failing his wife as a partner. In my own experience, my wife supports me completely and the love and trust that we have supersedes all insecurities. Looking at the relationship Kim and her husband have I would not say that they have as strong of a foundation as they should. But the fact of the matter is that regardless of her husband’s actions Kim had the means and opportunity to succeed and instead chose the wrong
I didn’t expect Amy to go against her religion and kill Frank Miller in an effort to save Will Kane. Throughout the entire movie, Amy stuck to her morals and did what was expected of her, not what she felt was right. That is exactly how her character and Will’s differ. Will Kane was always looking out what was best for the townspeople. Amy was selfish.
Gatsby also tries to save Daisy at some point from trying to stop daisy but she was so full of grief she did not stop or turn Gatsby had said “Anyhow-Daisy stepped on it. I tried to make her stop but she couldn’t”(151). Gatsby tried to make her stop before they ran over Myrtle so they could save so much pain even after Gatsby felt sorry for Daisy. He stayed with her until she was safe from harm this is another heroic deed he deed he did he tried to save Myrtle and also Daisy. Gatsby is the greatest hero in the book Tom is nothing compared to Gatsby even though Tom took over Gatsby’s
Despite my parents greatest attempts to keep it away, those influences always found a way to us. No matter what, we were still apart of the Chinese community, through relatives and friends. Despite my parents attempts, my own stubbornness and hard headedness continued my desire for art, enough to the point they accepted that this was my passion. They started supporting me in everyway, educationally through lessons, financially by buying me the best quality art supplies, and most importantly, morally. Every time during the “my kid will be a heart surgeon” brag sessions with our Chinese relative they proudly shared that I wanted to be an artist.
