The children’s skin is looked after in the setting by having their faces washed with flannels after dinner and tea, when it is hot we protect their skin by putting sun cream on them and we protect their skin as we make sure we put cream on them when they are sore at nappy changing times. We promote the children’s teeth and hair by having role play out for example we might put a dentist role play out as this will try and encourage children to brush they teeth and we could have an hairdressers out and this will teach the children that we need to wash our hair and have it cut. 3.3 Explain how a positive environment and routine meet the emotional needs of children and their families Children and young people need to learn to be capable and independent in order to learn new skills. To promote self-reliance you need to: * Encourage independence- allow children and young people to do things for themselves * Give challenges to the children- encourage children to help with challenging tasks and to try new things * Encourage children to make decisions- children learn to make good choices by being given
