If you are on a different schedule then your roommate, you must respect them by keeping your volume down at certain times, whether it’s in the morning or at night. However, at home you control what time you wake up and go to bed. There is no need to worry about disrupting somebody’s sleep. While there are always negatives when having a roommate, there are also positive things. Having a roommate allows you to connect with someone in a way that you never could with others.

The sanity of marriage and family has greatly decreased since the fifties. The role of the mother in the family household has been immensely altered.

I found it to be a pleasure to interview her and listen about life from her point of view Psychological and Cognitive function The adult that I interviewed is an 82 year old African American female that view herself as an independent and very wise older woman. She describes good health as being of strong body and having a sound mind. She stated that her current state of health mentally and physically is “good for an 82 year old woman.” She feel that she has forgetfulness that is a normal part of the aging process such as forgetting where she placed an item or repeating a statement from earlier that day. She described her spiritual health as believing in God and having strong faith. She attends church on a regular basis as well as church outings.
We are now in the process of arranging for her to move to an assisted living facility near my home. She will still be able to have a little bit of independence, but the family will have the assurance that she will be safe when we cannot be there. My Grandma is not yet in the stage where she forgets who we are, but sometimes needs to be reminded. A conversation with her consists of a lot of repeating. One thing that I do notice in my grandmother that coincides with my research is that a majority of her forgetfulness involves short-term memory loss.
Week 7 Assignment 2 Through history women and the GLBT, community has been looked down upon as inferior to men. As time has proven to be a good thing for women especially the last decade because it has been a time of great advancement for women in the workforce and the outlook that society has on them. I think that people in the United States are also becoming more comfortable with the GLBT community. More people are able to express themselves for who they really are and people are becoming more open to the idea of love without limits. I think it is important to look back from where we have come and see the progress that is being made from where we started to where we are today.
But once they know that they mean no harm, everyone relaxes and isn't on edge anymore. When visiting the nursing home, I realized that my norms and values are different than theirs. Their norms are the nurses, not having that independence, and having someone clean up after them, unlike mine where I clean up after myself and am pretty independent. One of the sociological theories that I put together after my experience was the Ideal vs. Real culture. My ideal thoughts about a nursing home were that it would be quiet, and kind of depressing.
1. I feel that the lady I interviewed is aging successfully because she has many hobbies and a great support system. The supportive factors I viewed just from being in her home, as well as what I gathered from the interview were that her husband and family are the most important in her life. Her hobbies, her job as a bookkeeper and her good health were also supportive factors. For her health, even though she goes to the renal center in Penticton every 6 months shows that her kidney failure, for the most part, is not as serious as other peoples can be.
The only thing that I don't like is that I am not living in a dorm. I honestly can't wait till I move into a dorm. I kind of just want to do things on my own for a change. Don't get me wrong, I love living at home and not having to pay anything, but I'm kind of getting tired of it and want to move on. I kind of want to prove that I can do things and live on my
More importantly, her ability to conceive diminishes greatly after the age of 40. The media and celebrities give the impression that fertility and the ability to conceive is an easy process for women advanced in age. That is not the case for many women, especially those over the age of 40. Often, first-time mothers have the tendency to be more self-sufficient and grounded. They have more wisdom and life experiences to share with their children.
