In today’s generation, mobile phones have been a necessity in everyone everyday lives. Many teenagers today describe their mobile phones as their “life”. It had been said that in 2013, students will be allowed to bring mobile phones and IT gadgets to school after the rules and regulations under the Education Act 1996 are amended. However, by allowing student to bring mobile phones to school will cause a lot of trouble than a good one and this statement is mostly supported by parents and teachers. In my opinion, there are three disadvantages allowing student to bring the mobile phones to school, which are increasing theft cases, cheating cases, and increasing of immoral activities. First of all, theft is a person intentionally and fraudulently takes personal property of another without permission or consent and with the intent to convert it to the taker's use. Given that nearly every mobile phone these days has a built-in digital camera, there is a distinct possibility that some students may take pictures that they shouldn't be taking. This kind of mobile phone can also be used to take incriminating or embarrassing photos of other students, particularly in changing rooms or bathrooms. The use of mobile phones, which the majority of the students possess, can be quickly turned into tools of corruption. Mobile phones can be readily used to take unflattering pictures, send incriminating videos, and utter threatening or otherwise disparaging remarks. In addition, this is the form of bullying that has replaced the physical bully and offered anonymity and non-stop availability to harass and belittle fellow students. Cyber-bullying makes the school environment unsafe for many students. A burgeoning concern is ‘sexting’, which is sending lurid photos amongst the population of the school.
