Do memories hinder or help people in thier effort to learn from the past and succeed in the present? Many people believe that to move up the ladder of success and acheivement, you must forget the past, repress it, and relinquish it. But others have just oposite view. They see old memories as a chance to reckon with the past and integrate past and present. So the question is "do memorieis hinder or help people in their effort to learn from the past and succeed in the present?". Memories act as both a help and a hinderance to the success of someone. Many people advise you to learn form the past and apply those memories so that you can effectively succeed by avoiding repeating your past mistakes. On the other hand, people who get too caught up with the past are unable to move on to the future. Again, can we rely on our past without being controlled by it? Different situations require different actions to proceed in a positive manner. Both of the ideas on remembering and forgetting have their reasons for existing and both are positive. Many times people are required to use both elements. How can a person become more successful by forgetting what they had already learned and experienced? Even if a person wanted to forget their past they couldn't because like it or not the past helped mold that person into who they are at the very present. You could almost say that the more mistakes a person makes, the stronger a person they are, assuming of course they learn form them. Memories from different aspects of life have different consequences, which then in turn, determines if one will succeed or if one will fail due to hinderance. Our actions become habits which create our personalities and help to make our own experiences. But I also think memories should not rule the present.
