However, mediation and advocacy are the two major types of services offered. People in crisis are in desperate need of advocates and mediators. The Academy of Family Mediators, the Commission on Dietetic Registration and the Victim-Offenders Mediation Association offer special mediation and advocacy services at just one click away. These three agencies can be found working at national and international levels. They are striving to preserve dignity of their clients obtaining advocacy or mediation services. They offer services with complete professionalism and compassion. As each agency specializes in different areas of services, sometimes when clients are in complex crisis situations, the agencies may work simultaneously. However, the agencies offer their services based on the individual’s specific needs and demands. The Victim Offenders Mediation Associates offer integrated services of both mediation and advocacy (VOMA, 2011). The Essential Functions of VOMA Any violent crime leaves a traumatic effect on the mind of the victim who may have to carry it rill death. In fact, family, friends and even other witnesses get affected. That is why a healing process needs to come into effect but this is very challenging. VOMA is there to extend mediation and advocacy through highly trained professionals. This agency not only helps the victim but also help the offender come to normalcy. VOMA acts as a transitional and recovery assistance tool by helping both the parties heal. The offender is also included as part of a post traumatic recovery process.
