Mayan And Incan Society Summary: Mayan and Incan societies are alike and different in many ways. In Mayan culture they loved to have contests and play a sport called ball courts. This game involved a team of two or three people and they used their hips to propel the ball. They could not use their hands or feet! However the Incan culture was strongly based on farming! Every morning the family would go out to work on the farm. They had to pay taxes on the land they worked. Taxes were paid in labor. Working was very important to the Incans. Mayan men were also peasant farmers. Wall the Mayan women cooked and weaved. Incans ate a food called Chicha for breakfast. Chicha was a thick beer made from fermented corn. Mayans ate a thick hot corn drink for breakfast. Corn was a big food recourse for both Mayan’s and Incan’s. Everyone in Incan culture was required to marry. If a man was no married by the age of twenty a women was chosen for him. Although in Mayan culture all marriages were arranged! Mayan’s got married in their late teens. Mayan children would go to school if they were from a noble family, but the Incan children rarely ever went to school. Instead they worked on the farm. Incan babies were only held to be cleaned or fed and often died at a young age from neglect. Incan homes were made from sun baked bricks with attached roofs. They had no doors or windows so they used a sheet for a door. Mayans lived in one room huts. Mayan and Incan are two similar cultures with different beliefs. They are both very important in today’s
