Sheila is the only one which feels compassion from Eva’s death. The reader also sympathises with her because he is the only one which reveals against the power of rich classes. She is still a young woman and therefore she expects more to happen in his life, also as the play says she is “very pleased with life”. Sheila’s language is in a mid term between formal and informal due to his short age. Eric: His relations with his family are open; all the family knows his drink problem except his mother because he still sees him as a child.
They are completely separated from other people even with their parents, with the exception that both characters have a major female role in their lives, Donnie’s being Gretchen and Holden’s being his little sister, Phoebe. Holden likes Phoebe a lot, even though phoebe does things that usually gets on Holden’s nerve, he doesn’t hate or mind it, like when phoebe repeats “daddy’ll kill you” (167) 4 or 5 times, Holden never once got angry and reply the same answer over and over even though he said he hated people repeating themselves “that’s something that drives me crazy, when someone says something twice that way, after you admit it the first time. Then he says it three times.” Donnie always likes to disagree with other people’s philosophy and thinking, like his gym teacher’s, whenever Gretchen says “what if you could go back in time, and take all those hours of pain and darkness and
I'd say he is hero, the examples you have of why he isn't are perfectly valid, and definitely include them in the essay, but I don't think they dismiss his heroism. He broke at the end and loved Big Brother but this was due to O'Brien's torture and mind control, he always knew this would be the outcome from his diary entries, conversations with Julia and his observations of Jones, Aaronsen and Rutherford at the Chestnut Tree Cafe. Breaking his only promise to Julia, not to betray her, was unavoidable, see his rantings after his visit to room 101, and the brief encounter with Julia when he is released, she betrayed him too, everyone betrays, this is the purpose of room 101, to remove anything you love more than the party and replace it/them with Big Brother. He sneaks around instead of engaging in open revolt because this is the only way any dissent and subversion can take place, the reactions of people during the ten minutes hate, telescreens, hidden microphones, a militarised society and scared/brainwashed spying neighbours giving you up at the first opportunity to save themselves make open revolt instantly futile rather than eventually futile, he took this approach not out of cowardice because it had the potential to subvert the cause of the party more effectively and because it was the only way. His rebellion does further his own desires, but his primary goal is to undermine the goverment, at first he is revolted by Julia, his initial act of sleeping with her was done not out of sexual desire, but out of a desire to rebel against and weaken the government, in his and Julia's opinion doing something for yourself and only yourself WAS the act of rebellion, it was central in their purpose to revolt as it went against the only reason for the party's existance, control and power (see Winston and Julia's conversations in the flat, and O'Brien's explanation of
Hassan has always been a royal servant and a true friend who has always helped and safe guarded Amir in different situations. Hassan has suffered a lot for being a loyal servant to Amir by his people, the community and even by his boss Amir; however he never gave up or cheated and has kept his loyalty until the last minute of leaving from the house. On the other hand, Amir has always been jealous with Hassan and never treated him as a close friend. The relationship of the two boys Amir and Hassan who were the Sultans of Kabul has come to an end after Hassan got raped by Assef, a famous bully of the neighborhood. Since Amir was grown up as a self-defend less kid, he couldn’t help Hassan and felt guilty for not doing anything for him.
He doesn’t leave, and Liesel knows he won’t. He truly cares about Liesel. So does Mama, but she certainly has a different way of showing it. Rosa Hubermann is a strange woman who uses words like swine and asshole in every sentence. Rudy Steiner, the neighbor with the hair color of a lemon, becomes Liesel’s best friend.
Her father is willing to give the hospital a great donation which will help with the construction of specialized facilities; which we all know is greatly needed. Her parents are also unable to bare anymore children. Furthermore, Lisa has suffered with a lupus-like immune deficiency her whole life. She has done nothing to bring this onto herself, whereas Jerry was a steroid user and Ozzy was a crack-cocaine user. She is the most deserving and this decision will benefit the most people morally, this is thanks to her father’s generous donation.
Dear Lennie, Do you know why I take care of you Lennie? Because guys like us, that work on ranches, are the loneliest guys in the world. Now Aunt Clara told me to take care of you too, and make sure you don’t get into no trouble. If she were here she’d scold us for the messes we’ve gotten ourselves into. She knew you were dumb just as much as I do.
She says that they where like his children in a way. At the beginning of the novel, Scout and Jem don’t stand in Boo’s shoes, automatically believing the gossip surrounding the Radley’s place, little did they know that he was on their side the whole time, and was even standing in their shoes. Scout and Jem both learned that most people like Boo Radely and Mrs. Dubose are really nice People, they just have to walk in their shoes and look at things from their point of view to really understand them. A lot of the events that took place throughout the book wouldn’t of happened if everyone would have thought about standing in the other persons shoes. Trying to see things in someone elses eyes is hard to do and often people don’t even think twice about doing it.
A sibling will be the one you are ready to kill one minute and can't live without the next. We go through everything in life together and are still there for one another even when times are the worst imaginable or amazingly wonderful. It is like no other relationship a person will ever have. I thank God I have my sister, Jana, but there are those who are not fortunate enough to have siblings. I taught Jana how to drive a stick shift and laughed at her because she didn't know how to boil water.
A way of challenging someone's expectations is by having support from friends, family, and teachers. Christy Brown was born with Cerebral Palsy, many people saw him as a failure but his family was always there for him. When people told the Brown’s family that they shouldn’t see him as a part of the family and should just send him to an institute they didn't listen. His mom worked very hard to prove to them that Christy was very intelligent and that his body was the only thing that was shattered. Christy understood what was going on and did all he could to show his mom that he understood her and that finally happened when he started to write with his “Left Foot”.
