In order for suggestion to cause hysteria, it needs to be viewed as valid. Often this is a fear or worry held in common by members of the society. In The Crucible, by Arthur Miller, this fear is witchcraft. The Salem witch trials occurred because the whole community feared witchcraft. Had the adults of Salem not believed the girls who were accusing social outcasts of witchcraft, no mass hysteria would have occurred.
The Japanese were already defeated and ready to surrender because of the effective sea blockade and the successful bombing with conventional weapons.”(William Leahy) The Atomic Bomb should have never been used on Japan under any circumstances because it was completely unnecessary and morally wrong. The decision that Harry Truman made, was the biggest mistake of his life. Not only did he condemn hundreds of thousands of people to death, he also went against everything that the United States stood for. Japan was already on the verge of losing the war, and was getting closer to surrendering. Carpet bombing had been going on in Japan for the last couple months and these incendiary bombs were killing civilians.
No one to blame but Macbeth Decisions can be impacted by a number of factors; but in the end we have to be the ones to take responsibility for our actions. This is demonstrated when we see Macbeth transform from a brave soldier to a power-hungry murderer, feared by all his subjects. Macbeth is the one to blame for his own descent into cruelty and murder because he let his ambition, arrogance and greed take over his mind. While some may claim that Macbeth is to blame for his actions, others argue that it is the force of the supernatural that leads to his demise. Early on the witches reveal prophecies to Macbeth suggesting his rise to power.
Nine-year old Elizabeth Parris and eleven years old Abigail Williams started having fits, strange behaviors and would scream with anger. A doctor looked at the girls and decided that the only explanation was spells caused by witchcraft. Despite the fact today we know it wasn’t logically true, but the town had a strong belief of the devil. Hysteria and chaos took over the town, soon enough when girls all over town decided to take part in it, and began accusing the townspeople without a reason. This is one reason why this is the worst thing that happened to America.
Is it ethical to use experimental clinical data collected by the Nazis? During World War II, terrifying crimes were committed against the innocent Jewish community by a group of hate-filled German organization who called themselves Nazis. These crimes ranged from executions to a slow, torturous agony which brought about the Nazi medical experimentation. Throughout the years, the Nazi medical experimentation has been a main controversy in today's advancement in the medical field. This has been a main controversy because so many people suffered without giving their consent to let the doctors and scientists conduct these experiments in the name of science.
A second example, how Egg shows a respect is when her global history teacher was screaming and yelling at her about being late. When Egg first stepped foot into the door the teacher screams, “Invest in an alarm clock Mrs. Jurgen.” Egg takes her seat and starts to take notes, the page are blurry because she starts to cry. (56) That shows respect because she knew that she was talking to an adult and not a child. There is a certain way that you have to talk to adults. Final example is when Egg shows respect to Max.
The two teachers seemed to be fighting about who would receive the scholarship jacket. Mr. Schmidt, who was on Martha’s side was arguing that Martha should receive the jacket over Joanne because her grades were much higher. As Mr. Schmidt came rushing out of the room, Martha quickly entered to pick up her gym bag and left without even talking to her teacher. That night, Martha was at home crying in her pillow so that her grandparents would not hear her. The next day, the principal of the school called Martha into his office so that he could have a talk with her.
For example, the United Nations was created due to this catastrophe, to end the Holocaust stop it from ever happening again. Though there are still wars today, none of them are as horrible as the Holocaust was which means people have learned from their mistakes. Yes, surprising as it is we learned something from all the horrible things that happened during World War II, like that it is just inhumane for a person to want exterminate an entire race of people just because of their religion, race, gender, or sexual preferences. Overall the Holocaust was a horrific event which lead to deaths of millions and will hopefully never happen
He looked up at me as if to tell him that it was all a lie but I shook my head and saw Mcginnie run to the hospital telephone and strted to dial the numbers of his house. I watched Mcginnie until he started talking to someone. I went back to the room and explained what was happening to Watson. Watson also started panicking but I told him not to worry. When Mcginnie came in I asked how his daughter was, he said that she was perfectly fine and was going to a party tonight.
In the play many characters do not take responsibility for what they do see going on. As a result many lives are taken. For example, John Proctor realizes how dangerous the witchcraft accusations are when the court officials arrest his wife, Elizabeth, for witchcraft: "The little crazy children are jangling the keys of the kingdom, and common vengeance writes the law! I ll not give my wife to vengeance!” (Miller 34). Before his wife was arrested, John really did not see that the girls weren't just telling little “white lies”.
