Michelle Buchanan Dr. Melinda McBee English 1301.004 13 April 2010 Buchanan, Michelle L. “Special Kind of Dogs.” Abstract With previous experience I have come to find myself very close to pit bulls. I have a special place in my heart for all these dogs because they don’t get treated right or they get raised to think that fighting is the key. Pit bulls may seem like mean dogs, but it is all in how you raise them. These dogs only show what they have been taught and if they have been taught to fight then they will fight. If you teach them that all people are nice and you teach them to be nice, then you will have a really well mannered dog.
When we hear of horror stories in the media our minds are made up for us without having an informed argument from both sides of the Pit Bull debate. Maligned and legislated against, these dogs need to reclaim their position of trusted symbol of American fidelity. Astonishingly, for most of our history, America’s nickname for Pit Bulls used to be “The Nanny Dog” (Lockport 2011). For many generations, if you had children and wanted to keep them safe you required a pit bull. The Pit Bull was thought of as the most reliable of any breed with children and adults.
Old Yeller Thoughts Throughout Old Yeller I have noticed how truly lucky Travis is. The book describes the relationship between Travis and the dog. It shows how Old Yeller helps Travis correct many of his mistakes. Old Yeller came to Travis right after his dad told him he needs a dog. After the dog came Travis tried to push the dog away, but Old Yeller was to smart for him.

We have learned that this acclimates them for the outside world, and provides the basis for sound temperament. As with any dog, owning a King Shepherd is a tremendous, long-term responsibility and commitment, not a purchase to be made on impulse.

Ryan Lester Of Mice And Men 2/14/13 English I At some point in life, people are forced to make a decision that will hurt the one they love the most. Whether it is a parent parenting their child, or a man with his dog, decisions have to be made. In the novel OF Mice And Men, by John Steinbeck, death is a main topic. Some deaths in the book are not for good, but I believe George killing Lennie was an action of love. Throughout a vast majority of George and Lennie’s life their friendship has grown into a exquisite thing.
George is a courageous person in the sense that he has to make all of the decisions on whether to kill Lennie, would it be right, or should they just forget about it and move on. This shows the reader what feelings George had for Lennie, and the amount of feelings that a person can have for a lifelong companion just as Candy did for his dog. This amounts to the reasons why people should be cautious towards actions against peoples’ loved ones, and their
During this phase the perpetrator gains access to the child, engages him or her, and conveys to the child that the behavior is acceptable. The engagement phase occurs in Bastard Out of Carolina because of Glen’s marriage to Bone’s mother Anney which gives him access to Bone. Glen’s lack of love from his own family and his desire to have Anney all to his self is what leads him to abuse Bone. Glen has always had a temper but his temper changes to rage which fuels the abuse. What conveys the behavior as acceptable most to Bone is the way her mother learns about the abuse and refuses to leave Glen.
