Malcolm X was a civil rights activist that was born in 1925 and died in 1965. He was born with the name Malcolm Little, and changed it to Malcolm X. he led the Unity Rally in Harlem, and had many other great accomplishments. Marcus Garvey- the guy his father quoted while he preached and crusading and militant campaigning about the “Black Train Homeward”. Black Legion- they were like KKK but wear black and in Michigan. They were suspected of killing his father brutally. KKK- they killed his father and made it look like he committed suicide. Seventh Day Adventists- lived in a house down the road. They would visit and talk with his mother for hours and leave booklets and leaflets for her to read. She spent a lot of time with them. They felt that they were living at the end of time. The kids started to attend the meetings with their mom and discussed it at home. His childhood influenced his identity because he grew up with his father big a preacher, and in a large mixed family. I was always helping my brothers move cattle, kid goats, or vaccinate the elk. I never had time to be afraid or disgusted by these animals. But then going to a school in a small town, with most people from the city, I was the odd one out. Sharing what we did over the weekends was the time I thought I would be judged because I didn’t go shopping with my mom or go to the movies with my best friends. I was up at 5:00 A.M. to drive the tractor down the road and feed my cattle a hay bale. I was up before school doing chores every morning and by the time I had got to school I had already done more work in that day then most people in my class would do in that week.
