Major Ethical Issues of Our Society (Business Related)

The current major ethical issues of our society as it correlates to the world of business are: business being moved offshore; whistle-blowing; the use of illegal aliens for employees; sexual harassment in the workplace; miss appropriations of campaign or charity funds; and deceptive marketing. These issues of have not changed over the years and I believe will remain the same for the foreseeable future. The topics that I would like to elaborate more on are business being moved offshore and the use of illegal aliens as employees. When businesses are moved off shore its for one or two reasons, tax deferment or as I like to call it tax evasion and hiding money from the government. Tax deferment allows businesses to delay the payment of taxes into the future. But if businesses reinvest their profits back into their company they can put off paying taxes indefinitely. Outsourcing in turns causes the unemployment rates to rise more and the continuance of the economic downward spiral. I think this affects factory workers the most, because its easier for co-operations to pack up and move their business to some third world country, where they will have no complaints from their workers. Which means faster production rate at whatever the cost, with little or no regards to the health and welfare of the workers.Workers will talk amongst themselves, but they won’t complain to their bosses because of the fear of being fired. In addition, business owners hire illegal aliens than that of American citizens because just like outsourcing jobs, it’s simply easier. Labor laws are in place to protect the rights of employees from unethical practices. Illegal aliens cannot be employees, because by federal it is illegal to hire, recruit or refer an alien for fee, with knowledge that an alien is not authorized to work in the United States.
