They have taught me that reinvention can be as complicated as reinventing your whole appearance and identity or simply the reinvention of what you wear. In the Madonna Pictures, Madonna is forced by her status as a celebrity to constantly reinvent herself to keep her audience interested. Pi, on the other hand is pushed to reinvent himself, not only to keep himself safe from Richard Parker, but to last the 227 days he spent out at sea "My behavior was …a simple necessity”. Both of these texts have shaped my understanding of reinventions. The Madonna Pictures show Madonna in different stages of her career, and each of them depict a different result of her almost-constant reinventions.

. . . We seek to reclaim this term, rip it from its misogynistic origins, and apply it to an ideology, that has snowballed since the 1980s and seeks to return women to the Stone Age.” (Douglas and Michaels, 4) 2) Supporting Statement: A: “The ‘new momism” is a set of ideals, norms, and practices, most frequently and powerfully represented in the media, that seem on the surface to celebrate motherhood, but which in reality promulgate standards of perfection that are beyond your reach.” (Douglas and Michaels, 4-5) In other words, the media puts forth an image of motherhood that seems to praise motherhood, which, in turn, erects certain standards. These standards are, however, not fully attainable.
Connor Haggerty AP Literature and Composition 12/11/11 Mrs. Lehman, per.5 Jane and the Supernatural The common belief of living is growing and finding who “I” am. Each experience is a brick to add to your path because it will only help you move forward. This is how Jane lived. She was able to focus on the road ahead of her and live to her own beat; however, she didn’t live without doubts, or suffering. Throughout Bronte’s “Jane Eyre,” the superstitious presence surrounding Jane represents her transformation from an insecure young girl to a strong, independent woman.
In addition to creating a new female aesthetic and a place for women in the arts, her children were highly involved with the creative process which occurred. I believe this was a project between a mother and her children, and due to the process being placed into the limelight with its success, received raised eyebrows because of the confident nature of the project. I have looked at Mann’s photographs and I see them as a family album; yes the images are extreme, but they still hold a sense of tenderness. I believe the images are maternal, but the argument will never be concluded as with new people comes new
Now that a brief history of lipstick has been laid out, the basis for links and dissimilarity between lipsticks of different decades are easier to understand. As proven through research, media, politics, and culture will greatly impact changes in color, styles, and looks of lipstick. Who cares? This might seem like a pointless compilation of useless facts, but in reality, these facts of the past are keys to unlocking what lies ahead for the future. “I sucked! But that did not last long.” With conquering the sax, her mother and uncle realized she had developed a passion for the music and introduced her to the piano, guitar, drums, and trumpet. She was soon on stage playing with the bands, not just singing. In high school she and a group of friends created a band and started playing between the sessions of the usual bands at
“The team which handles the pressure best, carries the day. “(Imran Khan). In her novel, To Kill a Mockingbird, I feel that Harper Lee is trying to portray Scout as a very self-confident female by showing her maturity through the pressures she is put through, whether it be from her Aunt Alexandra or Jem. Throughout the book, Scout displays her confidence on multiple occasions and with that also displays her growing understanding for the world around her. Scout starts to think of things critically and when other people go over the top she “tried to climb into Jem’s skin and walk around in it” (77).
Women would no longer be seen as source 4 portrays, but instead gained a level of equality, previously unknown because of stereotypes. Although this was not always followed, with sexual discrimination, and stereotypes still being inflicted on women, it was definitely the beginning of a change for the better. In conclusion, the Women’s Liberation Movement in the post war era has dramatically changed the way in which Australia views, and treats women in a workplace, in law, and in healthcare, as well as the “Perspex Ceiling”, being mostly brought down. The change came directly from the actions of feminists and activists of the early 1900’s to the present day, and although sexism is still alive in Australia, even today, through the Liberation Movements efforts to change women’s rights and freedoms, it has been subdued incredibly since the start of the 20th century.
