Viva La Vida Macbeth In Shakespeare's play Macbeth he tells a story of a man with desires of fame and fortune. This man was Macbeth he had everything ,but he wanted more. He wanted to take over and become King. This desire to become king was a problematic event. Macbeths desires caused him to become a different man. Also the man in “Viva La Vida” changed over time he used to rule the word and now he’s lonely. It is possible to compare “Viva La Vida” by Coldplay, to the famous Character Macbeth. They have many situations in Common. Some lines in the song connect to Macbeth. Macbeth and the man in “Viva La Vida” had everything but it wasn't enough. In Macbeth he had control over things until he was told his fortune. He listened to the witches and became “Just a puppet on a lonely string”(23). It was easy to listen to the witches ;however it caused him to lose his wife and kill his friend Banquo. In the song he also became lonely because of the decisions he made. The witches controlled Macbeth like a puppet on a string. Telling him how he would become king made him determined enough to kill the king “Listen as the crowd would sing/ “Now the old king is dead! Long live the King!(7/8). When Macbeth killed the king people were in shocked because the old king was dead. In the song they weren’t really in favor of the king being dead and they said “Long live the king”(8). Macbeth wanted to take the throne and he killed the king with a dagger. After he killed the king he drove himself insane “People couldn't believe what I’d become”(24). Macbeth began hearing voices and getting flashbacks of what he has done. Many lines in this song connects to Macbeth ;however the way this song is sang I think has more sympathy for the mistakes he has made. He makes you feel sympathetic to his situation “Now in the morning I sleep alone/ Sweep the streets I used to
