All Chris cared about was making people laugh that was his life’s motive. He fed off of other people’s happiness even if he was miserable. Some say he may have had a form of a Somatoform Disorder or Behavioral Disorder. Chris was constantly sent down to the office for being extremely disruptive and disrespectful in class just to entertain his peers. Chris’s father never truly yelled at him for what he did just because of how cute he was as a child, Chris was usually allowed to do whatever he wanted this gave him this sense of empowerment but at the same time caused him to grow this self-independence.
Although Gene almost falls off, Finney catches him and saves Gene’s life, but he “practically lost it” too (Knowles 33). Similarly, Neil is the one to show Mr. Keating his old yearbook since everyone else wouldn’t do it. Because Neil showed him it, they found out about the Dead Poets’ Society, which leads Mr. Keating to lose his job. Since Finney and Neil are so sure what they want to do, it is impossible for them to comprehend what other people want as well. For example, Finney is so confident in himself, that he wears a pink shirt that makes him “look like a fairy,” and he talks boldly about

My middle son, who is 7, has the device that omits a smell. He went second; of course all the kids started saying things about the smell and laughing about it. I got a few looks of disgust, and had there not been a bunch of people sitting at the table, I’m sure something would have been said to me about him doing “that” at the table. Finally, my oldest who is 11, he has the burping device this time around, he decided to use his as he was pushing his chair out to get up from the table. Again, the kids laughed, this time though people did say things.
Jeanette Sara From Show and Tell: Scott McCloud- Language of Composition 1. McCloud’s first sixteen panels reveal a sense of both pathos and ethos because although there are no words in the first six panels, the audience can sense the fearfulness, and how the boy is hesitant and introverted as seen because he says nothing at all which shows the pathos. Yet, as the panel continues and we see how his eyes begin to light up when speaking of the toy, this sense of emotion is what develops the boy’s ethos. Later, we notice that the true narrator is actually an older version of the boy remembering his past experience. 2.
As Terry continues with his supper, he is asked by his uncle what he’s been up to. They argue back and forth about his uncle going up to the attic to check out what he’s been doing up there. His uncle says he better not have been playing with matches up there. After supper, Terry’s uncle goes up to the attic and he is laughing in amusement as he came down the stairs. He says to his wife “You’d never guess what that kid has been doing up there!” After Terry’s uncle and aunt find what he has been doing, they both laughed at the fact that a boy was playing with paper dolls.

The Harlequin had succeeded in disrupting the normal flow of everyday life and although the shift workers thoroughly enjoyed the whole thing, it was not enough to cause them to rebel against the status quo. The Harlequin continued pulling pranks challenging the status quo. When he appears on the still-being-constructed shell of the new Efficiency Shopping Center he uses a bullhorn to convey his message.
