When Jeanne first arrived at Manzanar, she felt overwhelmed because before, “We were the only Japanese family in the neighborhood.” (7) The family began to grow apart as time passed, so Jeanne began to explore by herself. Once schools started, she began to experiment with many things; however papa didn’t have the same thoughts. Before they began to leave Manzanar, they expected brutal racism because of other stories, but once they arrived in the new place, it wasn’t as bad as they thought. While they were there Jeanne begins to go to Middle school as a 6th grader. While she is there, people are very surprised that she can speak English.

II 1020-031 Kevin Munnings In “Senior Picture Day,” by Michele Serros, it talks about the need for a young lady to look normal like her best friend. If only she didn’t look so Indian because of her nose, she would be the prettiest senior picture taken. The narrator of the story goes through some trials and tribulations as a teenager to feel and look normal like everyone else. That is what she longed for and eventually what she gets.
Background Observation of the existing technology made over the last five years. In my first year at FHS, there were three computer labs that were used by seniors and juniors. During the next four years, four more computer labs were added, one of which was used for a ninth grade business class. This year the technology coordinator for FHS is in the process of setting up two ninth grade computer labs, one for English and one for math. Scout acted as if the whole world was coming to an end. But as soon as she realized school was nipping at our heels she perked up some. Scout had always awed in wonder when school was mentioned, since she had never been herself. This was her first year and I wasn’t exactly comfortable with the idea of having my little sister attend the same school as me. When Atticus volunteered me to show Scout to school her first day, I wasn’t too pleased.

The school holds what they call The Multiple Intelligences Festival, this festival has been held every year for the last four years. Jan Cox, the school principal, states that “We bring in a lot of different people with a lot of different talents so the children can experience that,”They begin to understand that they have different talents and they see adults with different talents and it broadens their idea of what they can do when they grow up.” (Castillo, 2008) In the hallways and classrooms of the school are hands on exhibits where the students experience the talents hands on.
