I try looking for a job first to take care of my daughter and pay for my finances but that wasn’t successful. I needed to have a high school degree and a few years’ experience. It was a few days before I contacted Student Services at a nearby school and enrolled immediately. My journey has just begun and I never knew the road to success could be so difficult. I had many sleepless nights and so many assignments I thought I would never finish.

During the nineteenth century women were considered inferior and expected to be submissive to men; their place is meant to be in the home raising the children and managing the plantation. Stowe considers housekeeping as one of the most essential duties of 19th century women: they have an obligation to govern their staff, manage household finances, and create a “heaven” for their families. Although the "separate spheres" philosophy is limiting because it confined women to the home, it also provides a model for a woman run government that separates from slavery. It is a disgrace for a woman to interfere in the place of men, or the workforce, as it is believed to be only for men. A key example of this would be Mrs. Shelby.
Being abandoned at birth in Ecuador, an impoverished South American country, didn’t give me the best start in life. Through the lessons and adversity in my life, I am now in a position to make choices to contribute positively to our world. I want to go to college to study nursing, eventually with the primary goal to be a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) nurse. It is important to me to make sure every child, especially those born prematurely, feel important and loved from the minute they are brought into this world. I have faced many obstacles in my life.
1. Understand the pattern of development that would normally be expected for children and young people from birth – 19 yrs. 2.1 Explain the sequence and rate of each aspects of development that would normally be expected in children and young people from birth – 19 years. Children’s development is continuous and can be measured in a number of different ways. Although all children will develop at different rates and in different ways, the sequence in which they develop will be roughly the same as they need to have developed one skill, for example walking, before they move on to develop another such as running and jumping.

A professional career was almost impossible, and despite Britain’s ruler being female for most of the nineteenth century until 1901 when Queen Elizabeth died, women were second class citizens. In 1870, Queen Victoria had written, ‘let women be what God intended, a helpmate for man, but with totally different duties and vocations.’ Trint, S. History Learning Site 2010-2011. Women’s Rights. www.historylearningsite.co.uk [accessed 07122011] Women’s subordination to men meant that their prime duty was domestic. Children were an economic responsibility for women - providing food, housing and clothing until the child was independent and could go out to work to provide for the family themselves.
Then the doctor said that she had to say home from school until spring. This upset Esther because she very much enjoyed going to school and it disappointed her when she knew how behind she would be in her studies. It would almost be impossible for her to catch up. Eventually the Rudomin family was allowed to move into one of the empty huts where they would be alone at last. Soon after
Lifespan Development 1. Introduction Lifespan development looks at human development from conception through to old age (Baltes et al., 1999). There are several developmental changes, or strands fundamental to each stage of lifespan development and each stage can have a positive or negative effect on the individual and how the progress through their life. The main focus with this essay will be on the five stages of infancy, childhood, adolescence, adulthood and older adulthood. The strands discussed will consist of social, physical, emotional, cultural and cognitive which I will also refer to as intellectual and will discuss these in relation to different psychological perspectives, including Freud, Erikson and Paiget.
Lifespan development is a process beginning at conception that continues until death. The progression begins with the fetus. As the unborn child enters the world the environment in which the child is brought into has a huge influence on the child’s development (WGBH Educational Foundation, 2001). Lifespan development can be defined as a methodical, intra-individual change associated with progressions corresponding to age. The development progresses in a manner showing the level of functioning.
