After several weeks Huggy Face saw the adversity of creatures that lived there, which was a total bonus on his behalf; he knew it’d become more than a want but a wish to be there for every traveler in the world. Though Captain Huggy Face and his crew were aware of the sunny, windy and slight rain fall of the island, they knew that this was what they’d been searching for all those years. Now it was finally time to call it their own! Due to the adversity and frightful characteristics of the island they gave the island the name of “El Miedo”, meaning “Fear Island” in Spanish. In their eyes it was just the perfect vacation
Riley Griffis 9/28/12 3-4 Myth Before man roamed earth animals walked on their hind legs not needing to walk on all fours. The animals of the world all lived in harmony with the exception of a group of black horses. These creatures loved the game of basketball. They enjoyed it so immensely that they often would play long into the night. The only difficulty was when the sun set below the horizon they could not see each other in the pitch black of the night. Every night they would pray to their moon God to grant them the ability to see each other in the darkness.
It was known to be the best battleships out there. It was the last ship that was left in the war. Some people said it was unsinkable. (Source # 5) Nobody else could sink the Lusitania until Germany’s torpedo came along. On May 2, 1915, the Germans sunk the Lusitania.
Demetrius Cameron Gordwin 07/25/2008 Rogue Waves Since the first ship set sail on the deep blue sea there has been many stories and myths. Stories of pirates and their treasures and monsters that live in the deepest parts of the ocean. There were even tales of waves that were so high that they could swallow a ship and destroy it in a matter of minutes. They called them freak waves or massive waves. But like all old stories and myths, for centuries the idea of such a thing was only a folklore.
Hawkins and Raleigh also accomplished many great achievements. Raleigh was knighted as well, but even this and many other great feats, are still over shadowed by Drake"s clever and bold pirating. But, if you look at the big picture, these sea dogs were just puppets in a political war between England and Spain. Elizabeth"s reasoning behind having the sea dogs do her dirty work was quite simple: the sea dogs were the best, most successful, and most trained group of naval operators in the world (Wood 170). Many times the Queen would consult with Drake, Raleigh, or Hawkins on matters of relations with Spain.
High Culture Art Literature “The Most Dangerous Game” could easily be considered an Elite-class literature. The entire story was directed towards the Elite- class and self-perception. The author made it obvious in the beginning of the story. The end surprised us with the outcome of both of their fate. In the beginning of the story Connell mentioned that Whitney and Rainsford are not on just an ordinary boat but a yacht.
Steinbeck uses the technique of putting an ellipsis. “It was thirty-five feet long...” (Steinbeck 24). This sentence is after mentioning he is a boat builder, the ellipsis after stating how big the boat is was to show that thirty-five feet was impressively long that the speaker didn’t even have to finish the sentence off to make the reader realize how amazing that was. And even then, that is where the passage finishes, making the readers last thought of Henri be that he was extremely skilled. The author does this to give Henri a new level of respect from the reader after him being ambushed for painting horribly.
Mangareva and the associated islands What I learned from my catastrophe was that in Mangreva according to my research it was inhabited a long time ago maybe sometime between A.D. 800 and 1000, this island had a lot of people in it and they were pretty happy with their beautiful island and they didn’t want anybody to bother them with their life; but one day they saw a ship and all of a sudden a row boat was dropped down into the ocean and two men boarded the row boat and started rowing for shore while the ship left to go too another place, when the men reached the shore of the beautiful Mangrevan Island they told the people that they were gods and that they needed to become rulers; so the people fell for it and they started treating the men like they were gods and little by little the mangaravian culture began to die as
I had asked if the television could be left on, since it was such a special event. Everyone, including the doctors and nurses seemed to be pleased, paying special attention to what they could, while at the same time moving around the delivery suite, swiftly. My newborn daughter had just entered the world totally unaware of the extra importance of those last few minutes. A wonderful healthy cry, as Chief Justice Burger administered the Oath of Office. The medical team was so intent on taking care of this tiny baby and giving her every little thing she needed.
The smooth wave pool tides follow behind the boat as it leaves the harbor and into the Pacific Ocean. The vessel has a second deck with five rows of white glossy benches with no shelter from the sunlight where you can also find the captain in the bridge of the ship. Once the boat hits the wide open ocean, there are five-foot waves with a slight wind. A big black thunderous cloud is on the far, far horizon. Everyone aboard the ship is swiftly jolting from handrail to handrail because the boats unsteady sway.
