Over 6,000 lives, most of them American, have been lost because of his actions. Many Muslims have now been given a stereo type of being “violent terrorists,” just because of the alacrities of a handful of extremists. Due to bin Laden’s interfering with the United States, they abortively invaded Afghanistan, punching a dent in President Bush’s presidency, and throwing the economy into turmoil. Any hope of returning to the former lifestyle that Americans had once enjoyed has been long dissipated. Al-Qaeda, the terrorist group that he founded in the early 1980’s, has been encouraging other minor terrorists to take action, making the world an over-all more dangerous place to live.

Originally proposed by Dr. James Q. Wilson and George Kelling, broken windows theory suggests that a society or subset of society that appears to be lawless will itself breed lawlessness. Broken windows theory is most closely associated with conservative sociology, focusing on social cohesion and law and order. It has had great influence on law enforcement policy from the 1980s to the present, but its proposals have not always proven accurate. According to Lilly, the central theme of broken windows theory holds that when neighborhoods appear to be broken down, disordered, and generally unfriendly, they serve as a magnet to delinquent behavior and crime. This is essentially to say that communities that lack in any sense of social cohesion and mutual interest witness a significantly higher risk of criminality.

McCarthy capitalized on the nation’s paranoia by proclaiming that communist spies were omnipresent and that he was America’s only salvation. During the McCarthy era, thousands of Americans were accused of being Communists or communist sympathizers, but also became the subject of aggressive investigations and questioning before the government or private-industry
Organized crime participants are master manipulators and can easily instill fear in the citizens within the area. This fear is often times enough to keep innocent people quiet when being questioned by law enforcement. This practice has helped organized crime not only survive but evolve within the United States. In conclusion, it can be said that crime and politics have existed in America for decades, Money, and power are both present in crime and politics.
