They had given me tons of pain medication at this point so I couldn’t feel a thing. Just as she’s finished explaining a doctor walks in and asks if he could talk to her for a moment. I took those few moments to look at my current state, me, a mindless 7 year old had gone from crazy monkey creature to unable to walk for at least 7 weeks. We got home a day later; the hospital had given me a wheelchair I could use until I could walk again. It was one of those wheelchairs that you had to roll with your hand.
My mom was finally living life for herself, when she was diagnosed with colon cancer. Luckily it was caught in time and no treatments other than surgery were required. That diagnosis left mom with an attitude that she was given a second chance. She bought a new car and went on several trips with friends. No one expected that she would face the battle of a lifetime just a year later.
She had studied art before, at the National Preparatory School, where she had met Diego Rivera when he was painting the Creation mural, but Frida had never worked on paintings before. Her original ambition was to be a doctor but a street car accident left her disabled and changed the over her bed, Frida had a mirror so she could see herself, and this was the beginning of her focus on self-portraits. Kahlo’s explicit self-portraits, often described as symbolist and surreal, reflect her physical and emotional pain. Years of being bedridden or wheelchair bound intractable pain and multiple unsuccessful operations defined this great artist’s talent. Interest in her works has dramatically increased, and nowadays Frida Kahlo ranks among the world’s most renowned 20th century female artists.
After she was seen, she came out with two missing teeth and a swollen jaw. On our way home there was a horrible wreck on Interstate 10, there were people and sirens everywhere…my portrait of the city wasn’t so great. About 2 years later, my uncle fell sick and the local hospital couldn’t do him any good, they rushed him to the VA hospital in New Orleans…where he later died. Again my view of the city wasn’t so great. A couple more years passed, by this time I was a senior in high school and Senior skip day was approaching and all the students wanted to skip to New Orleans.
On the way to the hospital we gotten lost and went around in circles of like 15 minutes. When we finally arrived to the hospital they gave me a room and a nurse came in to check me, while getting checked my water broke. Excited that my water broke I was unaware of the pain that was to come as I gotten closer to delivery. After they gave me some meds and hooked me up to all of these
My grandmother is a breast cancer survivor, but in 2000 her cancer returned in her left breast so she was very ill , and working to raise a newborn baby so throughout my childhood she was always in and out of the hospital . Throughout my kinder through 3rd grade education every summer , or vacation i would have i would travel to Sinaloa Mexico with my grandmother on a travel bus , it would take us 24 hours sometimes even more . It was always a scary car ride because we never knew if we would make it to our destination traveling to Sinaloa back then was a very dangerous trip everyone was always paranoid that our bus would get hijacked by a cartel because they new that there was people traveling from the United States and they always assumed that we were rich . My grandma would take me with her because she wanted me to value what i had. I was a spoiled brat my dad , my grandma , and my godmother would always try to buy me what i wanted when they could afford it.
What wasn’t normal was that she was sad, very sad. I had never seen my grandmother cry, that I could remember, and even worse I had no idea why she was crying. Now I can’t believe she didn’t cry more. Then she went to the hospital for a long time for various surgeries, and plans on what to do next. My brother and I stayed at my Grandpa’s house most of the time she was up there mostly only going home to sleep and get ready for school the next day, it was weird and confusing but my grandpa was good at getting our minds off of things and keeping our spirits up when he needed to.
Witness Carly Robins says: “I saw the whole thing it was something you’d see in a movie. I was shock when I saw blood and car parts flying all over the place. The boys in the car flew passed me going at least 160 and completely stopped into another car”. Mark Spencer was air lifted to Credit valley Hospital in Mississauga where he was admitted to the intensive care unit. After 8 hours of intense surgery doctors have said if he survives 48 hours he will survive but if he cannot fight this he will die.
When we did the x-ray, I messed up some bone in my neck and had to go to therapy for six months to fix it. That was one of the worst pains I ever felt. That day I was happy then everything changed so fast. When I knew I was going to Walmart, I didn’t think I would end up in a car crash. That left me injured, all I wanted was some new Hot Wheel
