I feel as if the US needs to be more careful with their way of getting such law enforcement officers. Not that their way of selecting officers in today’s world isn’t enough there just needs to be more added to it. In conclusion the movie “US Marshals” conveys multiple levels of criminal behavior. Not only from a criminal running away from law enforcement but rogue cops also committing criminal acts. Before anyone is sent to jail and there is suspicion about the case their needs to be detective work done so that the system doesn’t make the wrong
Police Brutality: The Use of Excessive Force Angelice Dollson CRJ–422 Criminal Justice Capstone Robert Jackson March 7, 2011 The police officers are to protect and serve the public and communities’ with their best interest at heart. Members of law enforcement are government officials that impose the laws and preserve order. There are occasions, when the police officers are engaged in a dangerous and stressful call of duty that can involve violent situations that must be controlled. We as citizens value law and order, we do not want to see our streets run by criminals who terrorize people who abide the law and we as citizens created police departments to prevent law and order not to join in with the criminals. We all decide d that police officers should have the ability to use force, but not in all situations.
Mr. and Mrs. Thayer both initially see the cop as having legitimate power. He is a police office, after all, so they naturally go along with his wishes. This is itself, a weighing of benefits and costs. The cost of not complying with the officers demands could be much more serious than doing so. The benefit is avoiding a severe fine, or jail time.
The issue of police chases has been around for years yet has been swept under the radar by some ‘more important’ issues. There are two sides. The side that believe that police chase restrictions are fine the way they are, and then there’s the side that believe there should be a greater restriction on police chases. Maintaining a saddened yet serious tone, Loraine Bennett contends in her opinion piece ‘My son paid the ultimate price’ (Herald Sun, December 29th, 2011) that police chase restrictions need to be tighter. King intends to persuade any car driver and the general public that the restrictions on police car chases not only need to be stricter and safer, they also need to be better followed by police engaging in car chases.
I believe Staples using an anecdote at the beginning of the story is very effective because it gives the reader a better recognize the purpose and points of the story. There’s no other more effective way he could use that’s better than the anecdote. 3. Yes, Staples provides examples of stereotyping he use the story of the thug life, women feeling threatened, and people locking their doors when he walks by which supports his thesis and that is also representative. There are no other examples that could be more convincing because he use all of them and gives a brief description of them being black in the public eye on the streets.
The officer pulled over a vehicle that matched the description of a stolen vehicle, the only problem was the plates did not match. Just because their was an African-American couple engaging in an indecent activity he felt the need to pull them over. He conducted a body search on the female and took the advantage to “fill her up”. Cops are not supposed to cause us harm in anyway, they are supposed to protect us at all times. In reality Cops are the ones who hurt us everyday.
Writing Assignments: Staples “Just Walk On By” The whole story is about the author’s experiences of being mistaken for a criminal. Staples describes himself as “the youngish black man—a broad six feet two inches with a beard and billowing hair, both hands shoved into the pockets of a bulky military jacket”(450). People, especially women, run away from him on the street at night because of his threatening exterior. In fact, there have been so many criminal activities have been made by African American, and many women have got mugged by African American. It’s easy to understand why a white woman in his story “After a few more quick glimpses, she picked up her pace and was soon running in earnest.” In most case like this, the majority of the
Since we live in a patriarchal society, and have since the beginning of time, women are more known for supporting the male in whatever his role is, and staying behind the scene. Women in the drug game were almost nonexistent as men felt that women were not strong or wise enough to handle such dangerous and demanding situations. This however, is not the case in either Dorm Room Dealers or Cocaine Kids. While there weren’t many women in the forefront selling drugs, Kitty, Cecelia, and Stopper certainly defied the norm as female drug dealers. Kitty, however, fit more so in the background as her role was not as instrumental in the actual scheme of selling drugs.
However, it is important for law enforcement to follow guidelines and regulations such as civil rights. This would include not singling out a person due to their race and gender without having reasonable suspicion. Yet, some studies state that “when race is combined with other key identifying characteristics of criminal involvement, profiling is a sensible and useful technique in which police employ the laws of probability to make the best use of their scarce resources in attacking crime” ("Writing For Students", 2010). Criminologists and sociologists agree that men are much more likely to commit
They interlock and yet they are viewed very differently majority of police and prosecutors tend to lean more to the crime control because its efforts to be quick and assertive. The due process model is very detailed and makes sure that everyone’s rights are not violated and going through all the steps of the justice system, no matter the cost. The rights that we have as individuals are very important it protects from being wrongfully convicted. Though some want to argue that these rights can interfere with the law doing their job, but without these rights, officers would be able to go around arresting anyone for bad behavior that they felt was wrong not because it is against the law. As a country, these rights were established to protect us from being misrepresented in the eyes of the law.
