Enterprise Project-John Deere as an Entrepreneur 13-01-2012 In my opinion John Deere, was an entrepreneur with a brilliant idea which has shaped the progress of many things in our world today. John Deere was born in Rutland, Vermont, February 7th 1804. He spent his childhood and adolescent years in Middlebury, Vermont, where he attended a common school and served a four-year apprenticeship learning the blacksmith's trade. The real history of the massive John Deere Company starts in 1837. In that year a 33-year-old pioneer blacksmith designed and made a ‘self-polishing’ steel plough in his small blacksmiths shop in Illinois.
Whole Foods markets have positioned themselves at the hub of this growth by becoming the world’s largest organic food store and earning billions in revenue from their 300+ stores all over North America and the United Kingdom. They continue to thrive as they still hold true to their original ideals and seek out to sell the finest natural and organic products available. Their mission: “The Company is highly selective about what they sell, dedicated to stringent quality standards, and committed to sustainable agriculture. They believe in a virtuous circle entwining the food chain, human beings and Mother Earth: each is reliant upon the others through a beautiful and delicate
He emerged as the wealthiest private individual in early twentieth century, and earned the title of “Lumber King” . He was also known for his contribution towards the development of the great West. Mr. Booth and Mr. Weyerhaeuser became very successful industrialists with the common traits of entrepreneurs, including strong leadership, determination, and risk-taking, yet they had different attitudes towards nurturing high potential venture opportunities. Both industrialists displayed strong leadership qualities throughout their careers. They were truly self starters who built empires with their own meagre capital.

John Deere Week Two Individual May 20, 2009 Diane Phillips Instructor: Richard Rignall John Deere The individual whom I selected and believe to be a creative thinker is John Deere; the founder of John Deere Company. Born in Vermont, this individual has been a very valuable asset to John Deere Company. John was able to bring his small work shop into a large corporation which continues to grow. Having been only a one man blacksmith, John was able to expand this business to what it is today. With approximately 56,000 people working at his corporation the company continue to running strong.
Employee contributions are definitely welcomed and will be acknowledged regardless of the person’s point of view. 9. Distinctive competence; well not knowing a great deal about this type of business I would have to say that Whole Foods is outdoing its competitors since they are in fact the largest in the world. Their team empowerment and creativity coupled with core values are most likely what led this organization to the top. I feel that their mission statement is a direct reflection of their philosophy and takes the organization from Point A to Point B.
Abraham Lincoln was born on February 12, 1809. His father and mother, Thomas and Nancy Lincoln, with their children, lived in a one-room log cabin in southeast Hardin County, Kentucky. Abraham's father, Thomas, became a respected citizen of rural Kentucky and by the time Abraham was born he was the richest man in the area. But due to a faulty title in
The invention of new tools and machines decrease the workload for farmers, making them better efficient. For example the wooden cradle that was invented in 1830. The wooden cradle is a tool that can cut four times more wheat than his counterpart the sickle. Because of the introduction of Cyrus McCormick’s reaper in the 1840s, farmers can now triple his wheat production. “It brought about an end to tedious handiwork and encouraged the invention and manufacture of other labor-saving farm implements and machinery” (Shaping Invention, page 374).
With only eleven men, the Ford Motor Company was only able to produce three cars per day. Later in 1908 Ford developed the famous Model T and with expansion on Henry Ford’s mind he turned his production procedure into a moving assembly line. This move played a vital role on the Ford Motor Company’s major success. The assembly line not only greatly increased their daily output but it also cut costs on shipping and supply expenses. The production of the assembly line gave the Ford Motor Company a huge advantage in succeeding in the U.S. market.
