I am doing my paper on Jeffrey Dahmer. He was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on May 21, 1960 to Lionel and Joyce Dahmer. His father was an analytical chemist. He had a brother that was 7 years younger than him named David. Some people say that his childhood was normal up until he had a hernia surgery at the age of 6 and some say that is when he started to become distant and withdrawn from everything. There are also some accounts that say he was molested by a neighbor at a young age and that might be a reason of why he became so distant from everyone. When he was eight years old, he moved with his family to Bath, Ohio. Between the ages of 10 and 15 is when he really started showing little interest in any hobbies or social interactions. He started killing more frequently, 4 in just that year. The next of his victims was 33 year old Raymond Smith in May of 1990. His crime was the same, drugged and strangled him and then engaged in oral sex with the cadaver. He cut off his head and painted it and put it in his fridge and placed his bones around his apartment as decorations. A week later he did the same thing when he met 27 year old Eddie Smith. A few months later and his next victim was 22 year old Ernest Miller. Jeffrey had told him that he would pay him $50 to pose nude so he could take photos of him. This time he had drugged him and cut his throat. He also saved his skeleton and put in his closet and had cut off his biceps and was put in his freezer to eat at a later time. In September of 1990 he did the same thing to David Thomas who was only 23 years old. A few months later in February of 1991 it was 19 year old Curtis Straughter, whose skull was also kept. In April of 1991 his victim was 19 year old Errol Linsey. He was drugged like all the rest and was promised money for posing nude like some of the others. Jeffrey admitted to having oral sex with his corpse before cutting it up, and as usual he kept his skull as a…show more content…
His trial only lasted 2 weeks and was found guilty and was sentenced to 957 years in prison. He served his time at Columbia Correctional Institute in Portage, Wisconsin. He was attacked twice in prison, the first time someone tried to cut his throat with a razor blade but it was unsuccessful and he escaped. The second time he was attacked by Christopher Scarver and beaten to death by a broomstick handle on November 28th, 1994. His father wrote a book called A Father’s Story and donated a portion of the proceeds to the victims’ families. Dahmer’s estate was awarded and destroyed by the victims’ families. The famous Oxford Apartments were closed down and demolished after the case of Dahmer and was supposed to be set up as a memorial site to those who had died there. Here is a short video that shows how unremorseful and untouched Jeffrey Dahmer was by what he did. --
