He was trying to explore and research for the good of science. But it is especially hard to do when your thoughts and ideas are rejected by one of the most influential man in the world. Galileo was one of the few to see the similarities of science and religion, realizing their likeness instead of their differences. “Galileo Galilei, though famous for his scientific achievements in astronomy, mathematics, and physics, and infamous for his controversy with the church was, in fact, a devout Christian who saw not a divorce of religion and science but only a healthy marriage.”(Christainitytoday.com 1). He is commonly misjudged as an atheist or agnostic.
The short story is about an old fellow, who comes to the plum pudding store once a week. The problem is that the man does not buy any plum puddings, but he samples them. Therefore he gets the plum puddings for free and actually steals from the store (– definition as a thief). Due to this principle, Lightman views only to solutions as realistic explanations, intelligent design and the multiverse theory. Most modern day physicists favor the multiverse theory, due to a stronger scientifically backing. Our universe is only one of many, and by pure accident permits the emergence of life. There is little humans can do to prove their conjectures. Many physicist are deeply concerned because they must accept the truth that basic properties of our universe are accidental and uncalculable.

Griswold’s attacks were meant to cause the public to dismiss Edgar and his works, but the biography had exactly the opposite effect and instead drove the sales of Edgar’s books higher than they had ever been during the author’s lifetime. Griswold’s distorted image of Poe created the Poe legend that lives to this day while Griswold is only remembered (if at all) as Poe’s first biographer. So any mystery, horror, or depressing story that is read today, all owe their respects and thanks to Edgar Allan Poe. Without him, none of these genres would exist
Just a month after the surgery, Charlie can read Robinson Crusoe, his first “very hard book” (33). Because of the surgery he is exposed to spelling, punctuation and can finally retain information.
