Soldiers adapt to the different criterions of war, to the point where the word death loses its emotional value. In the text, All Quiet on the Western Front by Erich Maria Remarque, ceaselessly slaughtering people merely becomes a soldier’s duty. Paul says, “We have become wild beasts…we can destroy and kill to save ourselves.”(Remarque, 15) This shows that death no longer is considered a sensitive topic, in the soldiers’ views. Also, they don’t have any humane thoughts/feelings before assassinating someone because it becomes a part of their reflexive skills and therefore, requires no second thoughts or sensitive feelings. They seem to be indifferent to the fact that they have killed someone because assassination merely becomes their ‘job.’ In a similar manner, Generals Die in Bed by Charles Yale Harrison, is inclusive of the same insensitiveness and indifference towards the death and murdering of people.
Humanity’s Separation from Nature The gray unhappy air surrounds civilization as the pollution of human creations and discoveries tears us further and further from our natural beginnings. Nature no longer encompasses us with sunshine and beauty, left alone we become monsters in our outlook and attempt to take control of power we were never meant to have. With the use of drugs and the constant striving for upmost power to create living from dead we have destroyed our natural roots. Natural processes slowly disappear from the world around us, in Brave New World the Director says; "Bokanovsky's Process is one of the major instruments of social stability!" (1) This is a process where people are artificially made and conditioned into certain parts of society.
They’re going to hunt you tomorrow” (170). Jack kills Ralph last because Ralph is the last person Jack views as a threat to his goals. Jack is afraid Ralph might prevent him from taking complete control of the island, since initially Ralph was the leader. The darkness of humanity can destroy society since society gets in the way of the darkness of humanity. In the Lord of the Flies, Jack has been trying to destroy Ralph since chapter 1 because he wanted power.
There is people committing crimes. That is only natural for people to become desperate and rob each other when it comes to survival and you have basically nothing you are going to fight to survive. There are people moving in groups and crowds to the north looking and hoping for a better life. In Earth 2100, it talks about rich oil companies not wanting to give up their power; in Parable of the Sower she talks about whole cities being run by companies. Natural causes, no active government, shortage of food and supplies due to depleteion of natural resources, are all reasons for society collapse in both Parable of the Sower and Earth
Such violence is really only the cause of Roy’s pain, his emotions controlling his actions conflicts with our prejudice. Frankenstein's Monster's anguish comes from the rejection he feels from society “Am I to be thought the only criminal, when all human kind sinned against me?”. Posing this Rhetorical question highlights the Irony of how the monster while innocent has been judged just as the reader has. Influenced by her father Mary Shelley's story of a monster portrays the idea that to be human goes beyond that of the body. The Monsters vulgarity and the Replicants perfection does not define them their reaction and action and the ability to think morally and ethically makes them human.
The misfit is engulfed with futility and no faith to keep him running along with what he used to believe in, or what the grand mother is forcing him to believe in. After being thrown into jail he feels like as if “[he] was buried alive” (O’Connor 412). Editor, Lynskey gives great perspective on The Misfit’s attitude towards life. The Misfit has a quarrel with Jesus. Jesus upset the order of universe.
You people allowed this to happen, are killing off the animals, soiling drinking water, and making it near impossible for anything to survive in the waters because of the pollution and all you can say is that nothing is being done immediately because of FUNDING?" EPA - Smith: (wondering why this reporter is so emotional over the subject - Smith chooses his words carefully): "Yes Mr. Poseidon, we cannot just have people work for free on this project, it all comes down to funding in the end." Poseidon (obviously irritated and ired at this point): "I shall see what the rest of your America says about the pollution they are facing, and then get back in touch with you with potential solutions." (Poseidon basically cuts the conversation short and leaves Mr. Smith's
He was not a monster but victim. He only killed because the world caused him to. No single living being wants to be born into the world alone and left to die alone. “If you had seen the man who thus capitulated for his safety, your surprise would have been boundless. His limbs were nearly frozen, and his body dreadfully emaciated by fatigue and suffering.
He must then deal with the consequences unable to tell anyone what has happened and who really killed his friends and family. Victor ventured seemingly too far into science providing more pain then any gratification, because some mysteries are not meant to be understood by man. When Victor could have easily saw his native town as his world and made a better place for himself there. Victor decides to go further into science after
The streets were over populated and that is not good for the environment. Industrial agriculture was the reason why people in the movie didn’t have any running water. Also due to industrial agriculture it was hard to keep electric, Sol had to peddle the bike to keep the electric going (Solvent). In Solvent Green the people had hot temperatures and humidity caused by industrial agriculture. The whole environment changes all because of one simple thing that gets out of hand: industrial agriculture.
