Today in our society technology is used in so many contexts making it hard for a person to give one specific definition of this phenomenon. Technology implies to the perfect life and saving time by using a device. When mankind first set foot on the Earth thousands of years ago technology was used for survival. For example, mankind was inventing useful tools such as guns and spears to help them when they went fishing or hunting to get food for meals. Since then technology has grown into something bigger and people are taking advantage of what they have. There are benefits of technological progress, but nobody ever thought these benefits would have a bad side, the side of social isolation. Some people describe technology as a new religion. The concept of religion is that a person has faith to their god, and their god will lead them to a better future. They pray to their god because it will help them control what their god is giving for what they need. This can be the same for technology. Technology improves the life just like a god can. It protects a person by surrounding them with a comforting atmosphere filled with devices that can better their lives. It lets them know the latest news and events that are going around in the world. Putting this all together this gives one the illusion that technology is stronger than religious faith because a person cannot imagine their life without these technological devices, just like how a religious person cannot imagine not having a god. The fact that people simply cannot let go of technology is ruining their social life. With people being exposed to such tremendous technology they cannot imagine life without it. IPods, iPhones, iPads, cell phones, laptops, Blackberrys, computers, and numerous devices; items that we cannot part with. Technology has taken away people’s ability to have a face-to-face
