Not only does Carr believe this but states others, including friends and colleagues are also experiencing this affect. Carr’s goal is to push readers to think more critically about the negative impact internet usage can have on one’s ability to read and articulate articles. Although Carr provides some anecdotal evidence it is not sufficient evidence to prove that Google is making us stupid. In completing a critical analysis of Carr’s essay I will examine both the weaknesses and strengths of his argument and provide research and literature to support my belief that Google is not in fact making us stupid. Carr begins his essay by saying “I’ve had the uncomfortable feeling that over the past few years someone, or something has been tinkering with [his] brain”(91).

Information warfare is a term often used interchangeably with cyberterrorism but provides a deeper understanding in the shift of how data has become fundamental to society. As governments, companies and people shift to the use of digital information so have the methods used to attack (Gilmer, 2001). In order to combat this aspect of terrorism, the military have adopted computer forensics as part of their defenses (Vacca & Rudolph, 2011).

Guessing and controversy, allows to test the amount of information one knows about the topic, creating interest on the topic and opening possibilities for research. Controversy, finding an opposite point of view and try to argue it. This is possibly my favorite of these strategies, because by looking at other points of view pushes me to analyze that point of view and search for further information to prove my point right. Nowadays, even entertainment materials are the victims of media censorship. In the internet, pornographic photos and video clips are widespread. For government as a representative of the public rights and the power of a country while owning and operating the Internet, has the absolute responsibility to censor the Internet so as to protect its own citizens from harmful and false information.
