Interest groups are present in all branches of society and they have different type of issues, there are different types of interest groups, economic groups, socially based groups, public groups, union groups, business groups, and neighborhood based organizations. An example on an interest group who collided with other groups with the same values, beliefs, and same goal to present their cause effectively is the tobacco-control movement it aims to tobacco free communities. This movement includes many organizations who are concerned in health, education, medical, civic, youth, and religious. Using their power, they put pressure on the government to implement policies to control and prevent the global tobacco epidemic, this movement was successful to achieve their goal and as a result, almost every state has new laws against smoking in public, against commercials that encourage tobacco use, against tobacco companies, they forced them to label every package with warnings that says, tobacco is bad for your health. Citizens must be engage in the decision making because this will have great impact on their life, therefore they should vote to express their opinion in the government. Voting is a privilege and a responsibility to citizen to participate in public affairs and choose those who should govern them. In the democratic process an election allows people to be represented in the political institution and now with the modern technology, it is easy to communicate and investigate the candidate and to make a decision on the party that will provide better services. Whether a citizen is voting individually or belong to an interest group donating funds will help him play a role in the influence on political
