Many disagree with it but I personally believe it should be up to the patient and his/her doctor to decide what is best for their life. I would say it would be considered as ethical egoism. I don’t agree with physician-assisted-suicide being illegal. I understand that someone’s death affects many people but I do believe that at the end it should be the patient’s choice. If I were terminally ill, I would not want to suffer just to suffer.
Why? Because the person that that inmate murdered was his mother. Now that person is pro death penalty and wants to flip the switch himself. Their situation and experience is definitely the deciding factor in this decision making. Although this person may be affiliated with some type of religion, their religion is not present at this time.
When Curley's wife screamed, he didn't know how to make her stop except to do what he did, but he did not intend to kill her. Curley, of course, is also looking for a way to achieve revenge for Lennie's crushing his hand so he will definitely try to kill Lennie in the most cruel way possible. He says he will "gut shoot" him. George must save his friend by a mercy killing.
Pohnpei are type of people who are afraid of death if they will hear a prisoner is going to be killed because he or she commits crime. They will surely change because they will be afraid of dying. This will make Pohnpei a very peaceful state. According to Roxanne Rodriquez, author of the book, A Legal Research Guide, stated that these convicted murderers deserve to die (42). The last reason Pohnpei must have death penalty is for the safety for the citizens.
Those against legalizing physician-assisted suicide argue that “If courts allow PAS to be framed as a basic personal right akin to the right to refuse treatment, and if they rely on right-to-die case precedents, then they will likely extend PAS to voluntary euthanasia and nonvoluntary euthanasia” (Walker.2001) If this occurs they argue that those on the fringes of society will be the ones to suffer, that there will be pressure for these patients to chose physician –assisted suicide, regardless of the availability of other options, or severity of the illness. The pressure could come from family members who might no longer take care of the family member, or from the hospital/insurance company as a way to reduce cost. He describes lethal injections as too “hospitalized” and would oppose the thought of it. The author later explains that if there was any sort of death penalty there should just be a traditional firing squad. In another argument he also explains that no one takes responsibility for the punishment, and in case of the firing squad the responsibility is just diffused to different groups. He later explains that we have to take responsibility as a people about these capital punishments and that the past really does count. He concludes by saying anesthesia needs to be abolished, and in order to kill a person we, as a people will find a constitutional way to kill them.
Which is very true people are going to try to do whatever they want without getting caught. So by them making their bad choices by giving a person death for a consequence solves nothing. What also said was ‘because homicidal maniacs kill people by mistake, then it’s supposed to be okay for the state to emulate them” (Smith). In my next article, Capital Punishment Should Be Abolished, facts were pointed out strongly why it should not be approved. Three factors pointed out were “unrelated to the crime itself, greatly influence who gets executed and who does not: poverty, race and geography” (Roleff).
She knows that she is going to die but she wants to die pure, without the moraphine in her system, It’s when you’re licked before you begin but you begin anyway and you see it through no matter what” Mrs Dubose ends up dying but she did what she thought was right and she followed through with her self commitment even though she knew she was “liked to begin with”. Atticus would rather that people fought without weapons and instead used their knowledge and the truth to overcome problems, “Try fighting with your head for a change it’s a good one even if it does resist learning” 76 explains that using your head to fight is a better methos than to use force or weapons of any
What if one person decided to stop the Lottery and explain how primitive it is to murder someone for the sake of entertainment? Both of these stories challenge me to make sure that everything I do is not because someone else told me to or because past events have formed my present behavior. My actions are dictated by my Savior and my own
Validity, credibility, and reliability can also be compromised if the source brings about any kinds of bias. If I feel like a source has a bias towards my topic, I automatically cancel that source out because the information that I receive from there will not be what I need if they only give me one sided information. For example, my new debate topic is going to be on the death penalty, I do not want to get information from a source that is only against capital punishment, because that source will only give me the cons of the death penalty. I am going to look for a site that feels neutral about the death penalty, because there I will be able to find information on how the death penalty may be ok and why it may be bad. I am not an expert at researching, but when I get a bad vibe through a source I make sure that I check for validity, credibility, and reliability.
