PDD-NOS is diagnosed when the criteria are not met for a more specific disorder. B) What about the Rett and Childhood Disintergrative Disorder? Rett syndrome and childhood disintegrative disorder, both share several signs with autism but usually have unrelated causes. 4. ASD is a form of diability whereby there is need of intensive, sustained special education programs and behavior therapy early in life can help children acquire self-care, social, and job skills.
408-409. Print. This chapter in this book states that the etiology of autism is unknown. However this book states that indivduals with autism have abnormalities with the part of their brain that controls motion and some aspects of memory. This book can help me explain a little of what the medical side of what autism is.
Last of all, my parents have never had a single thought of having me institutionalized. Basically, I really proved the predictions of those doctors wrong. My Autism was a real life-changing condition for my family. It has provided me with a great imagination. Of course my Autism has its drawbacks and sometimes I feel unhappy about it.

1 February 2012 A Deeper Analysis into Autism Spectrum Disorders The first response paper was based off of the article titled Autism Spectrum Disorders: Diagnosis, Prevalence, and Services for Children and Families. This article mainly focused on the prevalence of ASD, and the impact it has on today’s society. I found this article to be very informative and beneficial towards our understanding of the child’s motor and intelligence development. Middle Childhood Now knowing that I had Attention-Deficit/ Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) as a child, I can make much more sense of the different ways I acted out in my elementary years, and why I was constantly viewed negatively by my peers and teachers. Although there has been much study to the connection between drug and alcohol use in pregnancy being a cause of ADHD in children, my mother never had a history of using either. However, there is also ongoing research in regards to ADHD as a result of high prenatal stress. Prior to my conception, my parents had tried unsuccessfully for 10 years to have children. (Anita Chandra, 2009) With the many studies of how the deployments are affecting the service member and the spouses of the military member, few have been done with the children in mind. With the many deployments, such as Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom (OEF/OIF), there are many service members being deployed and sometimes the parents are doing back-to-back deployments. With the service members doing multiple deployments, some of those deployments being as long as eighteen months, these are drastically causing the families to have extended away time from those parents. As I started doing the research, I noticed that there is very little data on toddlers and
Specific Topic: Autism Submitted by: Jay Childers General Purpose: To inform Specific Purpose: To inform the audience about autism, how people with autism may act, and the impact it has on their everyday lives Intro Imagine a world where you’re trapped inside your own head, and anything and everything around you just scares you. You, with no way to communicate, speak your mind, or express how you feel in a way that most people will understand. And imagine, just imagine, the world views your “condition,” per say, as some sort of disease, trying to find some sort of “cure” for you, and until then they treat you as some sort of social outcast, simply pushing you aside in everything. This is the world of someone with autism, a neurological disorder that affects how a person thinks, feels and relates to their environment. It’s simply terrifying that this is how they have to live every day.
Together We Stand February 25, 2012 Attention community members: Over the past few years in our community several children and adults have developed similar illnesses. After researching, I have found out that this is not a case of genetics because the ones that are becoming ill are not related. I became somewhat suspicious of these findings. I decided to do some investigating on this matter. I have found some interesting facts and have come to the conclusion that we have a serious problem within our community.
