Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee Movie Review The movie was made to show how the Indians in the United States were treated so unfairly by the United States government. The Indians were the first on this land but the settlers were determined that they had more right to the land than the Indians did. The Story is of Charles Eastman who is half Sioux Indian and was taken from his tribe, by his father, at a young age to be Americanized in public schools. He went on to learn and to be very well educated and became a doctor. For a while he worked for the government trying to help with Indian right, and settlement separation.
During her early teens she was forced to go to boarding school not only by her mothers will but by state law all Indian children were forced away from their parents and sent to Christian boarding schools to acculturate these children through these cultural modification policies, (Bodley, 1999, p. 93). Despite the aims of the laws passed to send Indian children to Christian boarding schools, this actually caused resistance in many cases, as is the case with Mary Crow Dog. In William Bradford’s essay “Of Plymouth Plantation” he describes the hardship the puritan faced under King James I of England where he started to change things in Protestantism and attacking people who disagreed with him. (133) Fearing the religious persecution William Bradford and other separatists moved to Holland to have more religious freedom. They started following the teaching of John Calvin and calling themselves Puritan separating themselves from the main church of england. When they came over on the mayflower to set up the early colonies there was a lot suffering and death. There was sickness and hunger and most of people’s children die before they reach adulthood.

The desire outcome was that after a lot of work they accomplish what their goal was. Hakluyt was worry about the wandering beggars, “The… wandering beggars.” Many soldiers and servitors were hardly paid and were in much danger ,”Many soldiers and servitors, in the end of the wars, that might be hurtful to this realm.” England can get anything they want for the reason soil is rich and can make anything England want, “The soil yields and may be made to yield all the several commodities of Europe.” Hakluyt thinks the Indians of North America will welcome English colonizers as bearers of liberty because they would rescued from Spain’s hold.

In the later part of the 19th-century federal policy shifted away from tribal self-government in favor of an effort to dismantle tribal government systems. (Brown, Nov.) The Indians always had to educate the Americans on everything they tried to fight for. This affected the tone and nature of American Indian leadership. There were protest from the Indians, Poor Peoples March of 1968, Red Power Rallies, the American Indian Movement to the occupation of Alcatraz. With the occupation of Alcatraz, a participant said, "we got back our worth, our pride, our dignity, our humanity."

The first people recorded living there were Native Americans called the Jaradite Nation. A few years after Columbus’s discovery, citizens from Europe came over to the Americas and made it a colony under Europe’s rule. The movement was peaceful until the Europeans became greedy for land and started pushing the Native Americans westward across America. While trying to take care of all the land the colony’s inhibitors kept getting sick. To solve the workload problem, colonist started importing Africans to make them work cruelly making America what it is today.
During early colonization, the Native Americans were either conquered or exploited like the African Americans. The Native Americans were seen as a threat during early colonization as the Europeans were more concerned with exploiting North America’s natural resources than actually establishing colonies. Jesuits missions in New France were to try and persuade the Indians into Christianity and adapt to the European way of life. The Jesuits learned the Native American languages and traveled to where they had potential converters. New Netherland colonies formed bonds with the Indians, as the Native Americans were the major peltry supplier to the Europeans and the Native Americans protected their hunting territories.
