Schools try to reduce the risk of having dangerous people entering the school by utilizing visitor logs, locking and monitoring the doors, some may use metal detectors, security cameras. Some schools with a history of behavioral problems also use police officers on campus also known as school resource officers. Then, the other charges for having the gun on school property will be another 2 to 4yrs in prison. That is why I believe it is better just to go to school and get an education and to leave all of the negativity out. This mistake could cost a person their life or a long time in prison. I have heard cases involving students bringing guns to schools. One minute you hear about the charges and the next you don’t even hear about the outcome.

The school has since decided to perform random drug screenings and property screening monthly as a precaution to keep this sort of event from happening again. These searches could be a great benefit to our school, there would be lass students using drugs, GPA’s would increase, and our school would be a
The city of Santa Ana, California, for example, has tried to solve its gang problem through the After School Education and Safety Program-Santa Ana, California. The service provides a positive development to the students of Santa Ana’s four middle schools. Each school provides after-school activities for predominantly Latino students with limited English proficiency and from high poverty backgrounds. Because gang members are recruiting younger children into their gangs, it is not rare to find children as young as 11 years old becoming a gang member according to a demographic picture taken in 1996 (U.S. Department of Justice, 1999). Most gang problems start in middle school though, which is why the City of Santa Ana aims its after-school program towards middle school

Jordan Potter Juvenile Justice Position Paper May 8, 2011 Abstract: The Juvenile system always looks right to rehabilitation for the crimes being committed, when every crime deserves to be seen by a judge no matter how minor they may be. If a minor were to bring a weapon to school, they are brought into the Juvenile Bureau by the intake officer, placed into a holding cell, photographed and fingerprinted if the juvenile is age 14 or older, and asked a series of questions. The parent’s/guardians are called to come pick up the juvenile and the usual punishment for such a crime is suspension from school which might as well be a chaperoned vacation and the juvenile cannot leave the house without an adult. Many cases are not even taken
