A student should not, in any instance, be made felt to be inadequate of incompetent by an educator. Verbal abuse of any kind is not considered to be professional or ethical behavior by an educator while inside or outside of the confines of the classroom. The disciplining of a child by a teacher in a physical manner is a behavior that every educator must find offensive and unprofessional. The responsibility to deliver the proper and unbiased learning curriculum lies in the hands of the educator. Although, generally the curriculum is approved and handed down by the state; the educator must possess the capacity to lecture the students in a proper manner. Students must not be treated or educated differently on the basis of religion, gender, or nationality. Every effort must be made by the educator in order to provide an environment which is conducive to the learning process. An educator should constantly be revising lesson plans and expanding their own knowledge in order to deliver an optimal learning experience for the students. Incorporating guidelines to educate students without bias into a code of ethics ensures that students receive equal treatment in the classroom. An educator’s primary concern should be the physical and mental well being of the student. This being said, it is the responsibility of the educator to be vigilant of a student’s physical and emotional behavior while in the classroom. Child abuse is a dilemma that may be encountered when working as a professional educator in the school system. An important aspect of a code of ethics for an educator is to properly report any suspicion of child abuse to the appropriate government authorities. A code of ethics for professional educators
