The northern half of the country was an industrialized society focused on the development of large factories to produce goods at mass quantities. On the other hand southern society was based on labor intensive farming a few crop, the best money maker being Cotton, King Cotton. With slavery, a source of free labor, there was no need to build factories, therefore retarding the industrial growth of the South. An industrialized society and the development of the railroad system came hand in hand. Factories were a must to build the locomotives and the steel rails used in the building of railroads.
With this new development, entrepreneurs began to open new workshops and forced their employees to work long strenuous hours to produce their goods. A number of other factors contributed to Britain’s success in the Industrial Revolution. For one, it had great deposits of coal and iron ore, which was essential for industrialization. Additionally, Britain was a political stable society and a great marketplace for manufactured goods. As demand rose for British goods, merchants needed more cost effective methods of production, which led to the rise of mechanics and factory systems.
The North did not need slave labor to keep their economy running. The South's economy was based on agriculture and was dependent on slave labor to be able to produce a crop that was profitable. Similarities Political Both were
The lack of picketing shows that the civil rights campaigners were subject to limited protest so they never did much towards helping. The NAACP closing in the south was because of the huge segregation and all the southern leaders of the states believed in segregation and therefore wanted it to be closed down. In the south there was an extreme nature of discrimination, as if its been in peoples families for many generations, they feel discrimination is the only correct way to live. We know this by the police supporting the KKK; they never went after anyone in the KKK or prosecuted anyone for murders or discrimination of coloured people even if illegal. In the south
The black population of such cities was concentrated in ghetto areas, where homes and schools for blacks were inferior to those for whites. Because of their lack of education, blacks had fewer job opportunities than whites. Outside the south, whites were just as unwilling as southerners to mix with blacks. You can change the laws but you can’t force to change the attitudes whites felt towards them. Whites did not
Although black men had some rights, not many were allowed to them. This proves how people the black race were somewhat free in the 186Os. (Evidence proven is cited from Document A] Social freedom is another example of how the black men were considered somewhat free in 186O. In this time period, the white race claimed that black men should be able to be free to live and to thrive, and to pay taxes and perform duties. But, they weren’t permitted to dine or drink at the whites’ board (table), to vote or have jury duty, to be an aid to a sick individual, to mingle in various gathering places, or to marry with their daughters..
All of these issues helped to shape the American nation and its people. After the Civil War, the development of improved industrial methods and the arrival of masses of immigrants eager for factory jobs launched a new era of mass production in the United States. The nation turned its efforts toward economic recovery and expansion. America's abundant supply of natural resources, such as coal and oil, encouraged investment. Much of this investment came from already industrialized countries like Germany, Great Britain, and France whose business owners looked for new investment opportunities in the United States.
Men are entitled to own slaves and this right has always been protected. Allowing the Africans to become free would disrupt our county’s progression. Moving forward is a priority for a strong economical country. According to a New York Bureau of accounts report, “It would be wise to permit colonists, and other farmers to import as many Negroes as they could purchase for cash, assist them on their farms, as these slaves could do more work for their masters, and were less expensive than hired laborers.” Slaves provided cheap labor, which left big promises for a booming economy. With the ideas of slavery many men will become and remain profitable and money will only benefit our society and allow the United States to grow.
He was a historian on the rise of industrial capitalism, socialism, and nationalism. He believed that the cause of WWI was due to industrial capitalism. Countries felt as if they had to have close ties with their militaries in order to ensure that their industry would prosper. There was clear heated competition amongst countries that had achieved success economically. Essentially, every country not only wanted to better themselves economically but also strongly desired expansion.
America had the resources to solely rely on agricultural, but the incoming of new inventions made it harder to pass up a great opportunity and America had to use these innovations to their advantage. The Industrial Revolution brought many settlers to America to work in the growing factories. More workers meant more production, thus creating an economic boom in America. This economic boom was also the start of prosperity for the people in America. The fact that people would travel West and have a new way of life using the new technology and at the same time being able to have land that was all their own.
