AO4 There are a number of different strategies to help prevent breast cancer from occurring. One way that can prevent breast cancer from occurring is by living a more healthy lifestyle. In the UK it is estimated that being overweight and being obese causes around 17,000 cases of cancer each year. I feel like this is the most simplest way to prevent breast cancer and it’s easier as people can replace the unhealthy food they eat with more healthier food. Even though it’s an easier way it is more expensive which unfortunately would make it more difficult for people who are in poverty to make this change.
While theft and low income consumers bring the possibility of providing only moderate revenue gains, if not a loss, operating in impoverished areas can also be a source of growing potential for the business. Many companies advertise philanthropic missions, such as donating to charities every year or helping to provide for the families of their employees. While these are messages that consumers hear, a more powerful message can be the one that the consumers themselves see. Rather than closing down those stores, Company Q should focus on the reasons for the high crime, and offer ways to reduce that crime rate. Offering work programs that help prepare young people for management or skilled positions is a good way to take crime off of the streets while showing to the community that the business cares about the welfare of the population.
Issues surrounding gun violence have been prevalent for decades, however in recent years the crime rates have spiked drastically due to gang violence. These gangs are involved in a host of different crimes like homicides and the illegal sale of narcotics. Street gangs are setting up shop in predominantly Black communities threatening the lives of many innocent civilians. As if the presence of gang activity in these communities isn’t bad enough, these gangs are robbing young girls and boys of their future often recruiting them involuntarily. It is extremely important for the citizens of these gang-infested areas to grasp the totality of the issue and decide to fight against it despite feelings of hopelessness.
Based on a graph presented by David Cooper and Doug Hall in the report “Raising the Federal Minimum Wage to $10.10 Would Give Working Families, And the Overall Economy, a MuchNeeded Boost,” throughout the United States, 11.4 to 27.5% of children (varying by state) have parents who would be affected by the raise in minimum wage. Thus, raising the minimum wage would leave more money for parents of families in poverty to buy their children food, clothes, shoes, and other necessities that, in many low income cases, must be rationed. Amongst those who are struggling to survive off of minimum wage, in 2011, half were under the age of 25 (United State). Many college students struggle to balance time for academics, extracurricular activities, as well as finance: car payments, rent, student loans, food, gas, and many others. One article from USA Today, “How Much Would a MinimumWage Increase Help Students?” by Jackie Tempera, features a college student, Christin King.
When a person is drunk, they can commit any kind of crime because they are not in their right mind at that particular moment but, the law doesn’t know if you are drunk or not and the law or punishment against sexual assault is high. The victims of rape or sexual assault are mostly women. “Sexual assault, including rape, occurs most commonly among women in the late adolescence and early childhood, usually within the context of a date’. In one survey, approximately 10percent of female of the high school students reported having being rape. Research suggests that alcohol use by the offender, the victims or both, increases the likelihood of sexual assault by a male acquaintance (NIAAA).
The theory in economics is that an increase in minimum wage will result in a greater supply of labor, but will decrease the demand for it. In other words, more people will be willing to work for the higher pay, however, less people will be needed in the workplace. Employers will look to reduce staff and cut hours in order to maintain their margins and desired profits. According to the Council of Economic Advisers, teenagers only make up 12 percent of minimum wage workers. That means the other 88 percent of beneficiaries “include a wide cross section of families with children, couples, and others” (Furman, 2012, p. 1).
Do criminals deserve such a lavish life while 4 million wander the streets in search of warmth? Prisons aren't working because there are too many laws which lead to too many prisoners, prisons are not effective in recuperating the criminals, and are tremendously overpriced. This topic is often neglected. Many taxpayers don't realize how much these prisons cost for people, but they certainly eat away at your budget. Americans can pay twenty dollars a day.
People are struggling to survive everyday because they have no food and shelter. These people may always dig through the trash to find something to eat for the day, not knowing if they will find anything. Families may always live in horrible conditions, having no other choice, because they do not have enough money. It’s extremely hard for them to find well paying jobs in these countries. For most of these people it’s nearly impossible to get out of poverty because they were born and raised in that culture, unless other people who aren’t in poverty help them out.
The drug addicts lose all respect for themselves and these addictions end up taking over their lives. Maybe the addicts are right when they say the addictions are their own fault and aren’t a reflection towards their troubled childhood. Addicts may just get caught up in the wrong situation at the wrong time and end up getting addicted to a drug just to fit in with peers. Drug addictions will create emotional distress no matter whose fault it
Drugs affect government and allegiances in terrifying ways but what about what happens to the families affected by narcotics? Drug abuse affects all people within the family. The addict is affected through their own self-destructive behavior while the rest of the family suffers through the devastation that it causes; involving them and affecting their lives. Drug abuse can tear families apart. The only way to resolve this ever so rampant issue is to educate the world about the pain accompanied by the high they would
