Marco Munoz Mr. Marquez English 11 Per. 2 5/4/13 The Great Gatsby Most of the characters in the novel The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald put on fake mask in order to hide their imperfection. In this novel James Gatz creates a new persona for himself known as Jay Gatsby in order to start a new better life and be someone special or someone who will be remembered. Daisy who was once with Gatsby before he left out to war in World War 1, has a huge desire for perfection which leads to conflict between Gastby and her husband Tom. Everything that Gastby does is for the same reason, to have Daisy back. He throws his mansion party’s every weekend hoping that maybe one day Daisy will come to one. It was awkward for all three of them at first because it had been years since Daisy and Gatsby last saw each other and Nick was just their left out. Daisy and Gatsby were alone but Gatsby was still very nervous that he started playing with Nicks clock and drops it from the nerves. After some while they begin to talk and everything seems to be going well. Daisy sees some shirts that she really likes and she puts her head on them and starts crying. However she doesn’t cry because they have been reunited but because of the materialism that Gatsby has presented to her. Gatsby thinks that he has won her back and so they talk more and end up having a good night. As they were both in Gatsby’s car Daisy was driving and was going to crash so she changes lanes and hits Myrtle and didn’t stop the car. Myrtle died and Tom new who’s car it was and was angry at Gatsby because he didn’t stop. Wilson though that it must have been Myrtles lover that killed her and therefore tries to find out who’s car it was. Wilson eventually figures out that it was Gatsby’s car and goes to his house. He finds him and the pool in a floating bed and shoots and kills Gatsby and then he kills himself. So as you can analyze, because of both Gatsby’s and Daisy’s imperfections there were many consequences. Gatsby’s desire for Daisy cost him his life and just to see Daisy run off with Tom. Daisy just didn’t care about anyone’s feelings; she cared more about her money and her beauty. Her actions lead to so much chaos and people suffered because of her fault and she didn’t care.
