Goals and Objectives by Artis Cary The effects of the immigration population have been debated since immigrants began to enter the United States over a century ago. The positive and negative effects of their presence has become a controversial topic among political leaders, lobbyists, and citizens, resulting in the implementation of immigration policy that mirrors the opinions of these Americans. It is you, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), that enforce and in some ways implement these immigration laws. What I mean by implement is that you seem to have the upper hand when it comes to the reformation of immigration policy; that is, you have
Illegal immigration is as old as U.S. immigration law... With changes in U.S. immigration law and economic and political conditions in the United States and other countries, the nature and characteristics of illegal immigration have also changed." Chiswick believes that the entire nature of illegal immigration has completely changed, and so should that of the laws America holds against them. Many economists believe that illegal immigration does not impact the country in such a negative way that many believe. For unskilled workers, illegal immigration may cause these people to be hurting of work, only because many times illegal immigrants choose to do work in a uncostly manner. Other than that, our country overall benefits from these people that we call “illegal aliens”.
Assignment 3: Persuasive Paper Part 1: A Problem Exists English 115 Friday, January 18 th, 2013 Immigration to the United States is one of the issues that disturb many irrespective of age, gender or race. Many people immigrate to diverse places, even at that, once they have immigrated to the United States, their aspirations remain unfulfilled thinking that immigrating to the United States is the end of human problems. Immigrating to the U.S does not guarantee success; it all depends on individual effort and potential. Presently, Congress is discussing how to reform current immigration policy. Research suggests that ‘’a vast majority of arriving immigrants come to the U.S. because they believe that this country is the source of prosperity’’.
America is one of the most diverse countries in the world because so many people immigrated to the United States in the past in search of new opportunities. Immigration is the action of coming to live permanently in a foreign country. People from all over the world travel to the United States for a better life. Without diversity, the United States would not have the culture it does to this day. America needs immigration because immigrants help to develop new ideas, a diversity of culture, and they founded and helped to create the United States.
The main motive that pushed the Europeans to migrate to America was the search of a better life, one free of troublesome, one with religious freedom and one that they can succeed in. http://bookbuilder.cast.org/view_print.php?book=6522). History texts places a huge responsibility on Religion being the biggest motive for the Europeans moving to America being that in Europe there was a single state of religion that had to be practiced by all. Although, religious freedom was key to the Puritans, Quakers, Catholics, and Baptists that migrated to America, it was by no means the sole factor as seemingly suggested in many textbooks. Settlers continued to come to the America colonies, Scotch-Irish and Swiss settlers came, too, in search of a better life, wanting to have land of their own and enough food to fill their hungry stomachs.
To what extent was the growing hostility towards immigrants in the 1920s a result of political fears? America was widely believed to be the 'land of opportunity' where people, no matter what they're background or where they came from could come to America and begin a new life. However by 1919 the 'open door policy' that America had was beginning to close and and hostility towards immigrants was increasing. Woodrow Wilson in 1915 spoke of everybody in one nation from different nations coming together and developing into the American man and woman. However, this was not the case.
America – the Land of the free, are the reasons why so many immigrants are currently living here, because according to the US constitution: equal rights, freedom of speech and privacy is guaranteed. However, not everyone is roofed under the US constitution, because in today’s world, the Muslim community has been targeted, their rights and freedoms and opportunities have been stripped from them and nothing is being done about it. The perception of Muslims has been altered through the media since before and after
The strangest aspect of America’s immigration debate is the intense opposition among right-wing hardliners to allowing more immigrants into the country. Most opposition to illegal immigrants stems from an admirable respect for the law, but there is a curious belief among the far right that being on the wrong side of the border—purely through an accident of birth—makes you undeserving of equal rights. They wish to deny citizenship to those who are willing to work for it, when they themselves acquired it through no effort save that of having been born on the right side of the border. These same people, curiously enough, are also of the following opinions: no one is entitled to anything, people who work harder than others deserve more, and the economy should be free from government regulation. This much the amusingly named teabaggers have made clear in hundreds of “tea parties” organized to protest government policies they view as “socialistic”.
New immigration reform laws have some good ways to gain control over illegal immigration; however, allowing more immigrants into the United States on top of the 11 million that are already here trying to obtain residency, is absurd. This could possibly cause the national debt to increase and cost American’s many
