Not only will the children speak efficiently and freely, they begin to use correct grammar such as plurals, pronouns, and tenses. Five to six year olds thinking process is still a bit naïve, they still confuse make believe and reality at times, and do not use logical thinking aside from that slight delay, they are well on their way to middle childhood years and will grasp these concepts in no time at all. Emotional endurance, while easier for older children to grasp, is a trait that can be learned by everyone involved. Just as children learn that eventually school will be over and summer will come, they will learn to understand and accept that the hurt and confusion that comes with divorce will not last forever and things will get better. A blended family can help to speed this process by putting the children back into a functional, loving two-parent family. Adaptability, flexibility, and creativity are also skills that can be learned by children of blended families. These skills will be very useful as children grow and develop in their personal and professional lives.
As schools are judged on their percentage of A*-C grades teachers will focus on the ‘achieving’ group of middle class students and will not waste their time helping the ‘hopeless’ group of working class students. This means that whilst the middle class students will be pushed to achieve the top grades, the working class will be left and will underachieve. Another marketisation policy introduced was parentocracy; which literally means ruled by parents. This meant that parents could choose which schools their children went to, which lead to the successful schools will become oversubscribed and many of the failing schools being forced to close. This may mean that the house prices surrounding area (catchment) of the successful schools will increase, as middle class parents move in to try to get their child into the school.
